Sorry for question, Surely my sti is faster than boxter??

Boxter had more to give... he was driving it well within it's envelope..if you'd seen a few "tail out" moments I'd have said he was pushing hard... not so sure about the Impreza mind u..he looked like he had a handful all the way round.... quick when it was straight though...

Sorry for the question guys but in the pub tonight the biggest **** you would no has been bragging all night about his 2008 porch boxter being the fasest car in the village, seriously would the 2.7/2.8 whatever it is boxter give an 03 plate 350 bhp impreza a run for its money? After all his talk im a bit worried.
However this is the big one, the Boxster is a fantastic handling car so in the hands of a good driver it could easily keep up with a Standard STi in the twisties and if the STi driver was lacking in the driving department could even cause some embarrassment.

the 350 bhp vs boxster... The STi wins simple... To say oh it's the driver then thats the same as saying a clio in the right hands will win (and that is true) both cars driven by the stig, the STi wins...... Thats the fastest car....

I have a 360bhp STi, one of those big ol' fat newage ones too. My mate has a 3.2 Boxster (S I think?). We recently had a drive up to Kielder from Newcastle... he couldn't keep up with me on the straights of the A69 and the military road (an old straight Roman road) and he couldn't stay in touch in the twisty country roads of Kielder either. He is a capable driver, I am ok but nothing special.
Over rated and over priced IMHO... unlike the 911 which is just over priced (I'd love one!).
EDIT: I should point out we were not breaking any laws of the road. That would just be naughty.

Better still why risk each others or anyone elses lives?
Easier way to settle this.
Both go in the toilet in the pub whip it out and compare! Smallest buys the beers

I think the "round the twisties" argument doesn't hold up in this case... the Boxter is quite a capable car (for a rag top) and would quite easily stick to an Impreza if there are corners involved... it is a mid engined sports car with a superb chassis remember (especially if it's 2006 or newer)... a few long straights would give you the cushion you'd require but he'd have an easier drive, just laking the oomph...
dunno, a group of us were all over a boxter in the peaks a few months back, well untill he broke it anyway lol

My old Cayman handled like a sports car .. ie: Go Cart responsiveness with grip till your ribs ached, and the harder up push it the more grip it generated..... my STI's (both my 2003 and 2008) handle like family saloons with harder suspension and fat tyres....ie: great to a point...but then found lacking in front end feel and not painted to the road like the Porker when really pushed hard..
The Boxster is not as good as the Cayman no....but it's still plenty stiff enough to out handle an STI... it's just down to the driver believing it can and will do it...
I've been taken round Kemble air strip in a Boxster by a professional racing driver... and it went round some of the 90 deg corners way quicker than I'd have thought..without even a tyre squeek.... the chassis is truely amasing.

Both cars have totally different characters, the Scoob a point to point weapon that is practical, the Porker a Sportscar with a soundtrack to die for and great on sunny days.
Hell if i could afford it i'd by both.
