I probably should have posted this link in this thread instead of posting it stand alone.

Anyone interested?

Initialy Subaru of America were planning upon selling 10,000 units of the WRX in the States in its first year. Since the launch in March of last year they have sold in excess of 17,000..
The damn things are everywhere around here
Oh and yes the rear wing is an option in the USA and we get the 2 pot brakes not the 4 pot
Details of the USA spec WRX on launch can be found here

After speaking with my 'local dealer', the next NEW Wrx will be in 2005. They knew about the current new model back in '97-'98......
Also, from what the guy was saying, the sales of the new models is equally comparable to the 'classic' shape (per annum), as people who want a Scoob have learnt to live with it's Butt-Ugly looks.....
Apparently the one that's gonna send figures through the ceiling, is the STi7. A 4-month back-log of orders already (just at my local dealer though). And all of those haven't even driven it (again, at my local dealer) - I know coz my mate and I were the first to drive it!!!
Just to side-track slightly, he also mentioned that the P1 residuals will NOT be affected greatly (mind you, there were 4 on the forecourt - 3 new, going for £26K....)
Just my 2p.....

So...the fuglii's (the plural of fugly ) are selling well in the UK and the USA....now what does that prove - nothing new I'm afraid - we all know yer completely lacking in the taste department.
Sales are *really* bad here in Turnip country as well.

Please don't shoot the messenger:-
Have been bound not to reveal source.
A subaru dealer told me today that Prodrive are working on a redesign and its likley the new design will mimick that of the Legacy front end seen on early pictures.
Apparently the glass will remain the same but there are big changes to the body panels. This information has apparently come from Prodrive.

I was told:
The old cars had a 8 year product life, with a major facelift half way. MY92/3-MY96 & MY97-MY00. Minor work will be done between, hence the slight differences between MY97, 98, 99 & 00 models.
The new car is working to a 6 year model cycle. Big changes are planned for 2003, MY04. So another major model change will happen in 2006 MY07!

Does anyone remember the spy shots of the WRX that appeared in autocar - possibly around Feb2000 - Looked pretty good a bit like an IS200 with spoilers and a scoop. If It looks like that I'll defo have one please ...
