Mate went to get out of the car to check the damage and the asian kid zoomed off. There was zero damage to the zafira as the impact was pretty slow. Anyway my mate got a solicitors letter from the asian kids solicitor claiming whip lash damage to their client. MY mate said there was no damage to the car so how could he have whiplash? also he zoomed off without swapping details so he must have just use my mates reg number to get the solicitor to trace him. Anyway the asian kid said he zoomed off as he feared for his safety as my mate got out of his car, and my mate is not overly big or menacing. Anyway mate reported all this to his insurance company and they said yeah it is a false claim and a common scam but there was nowt they could do about it so paid out for damages and my mates no claims bonus was shot and his premium went up inspite of them knowing it was a false claim. Insurance companies suck.
I apologise for saying this and if it recieves and infraction, so be it... but in this situation (regardless of colour), I would be finding out where said scammers frequent and give some big dude £100 to give them a real injury.

It really winds me up with regards to injury claims. Luckily (touch wood), the scam claim has never happened to me. I remember last year when I was involved in my now well documented bump. Gentleman pulled out from a t-junction without looking and went straight into my side. No real injury to myself, little aching and shook up. Took details and liability was sorted out within 2 working days. "Good, good," I thought, "car will come back fixed and no issues with my ncb". I ended up with a letter from an associate solicitor working for my insurers saying his insurers had offered me £1000 not to take them to court. FFS, I didn't even look into claiming, never mind visit or phone a solicitors. Obviously I just accepted the offer and had no intentions of requesting more, but they didn't even want to see medical records. It was as if they were throwing this money my way... I maintain to this day something was wrong and a little illegal with the guys car, as they seemed very nervous and quick to pay up - 3 weeks start to finish infact.

Anywho, it paid for some extra spray work and a decat exhaust, so I was happy.

From that I think that either his way was waaay illegal, or the blame culture had scared them into making me financial offers before I got serious and looked into it myself.

Can i ask if anyone else has had this - money offered etc. beofre even trying to claim for anything, doesn't make sense

I bumped someone when I had my Clio... no damage at all to the clio and a scratch to the Rover.

Women said she didnt want to go through insurance, I ended up paying £175 to get her bumper sprayed .. taught me a lesson as £175 was more than I had at the time.

No claims, no hassle, no problems. Shame its not like that now.
