0.5 secs is light and day in a drag race.

would getting a high 1.6 or even a low 1.7 make that much difference?

Yes, could make almost half a second difference.

You should try and get the most of you current setup as it is now (room for improvement) and then if you still want to go faster, consider a next stage of mods.

Reducing rotational mass makes the car more lively and improves acceleration (the more you take off the better the improvement).

I run one of the lightest flywheels available (makes quite a difference) on my car but haven't got around to doing the pulley yet (not had the time).

Exactly. I found that time lost in the 60ft was time lost in the ET. There was a direct correlation, for me at least. And that earlier comment about one car being 0.5 seconds slower than another - that's a lifetime in quarter miling! How much do think I wanted a 12.8 in my Clio instead of a 13.3?!

You win some, you lose some. I won both of them.

Practise staging, traffic lights may help; and if you're wanting to beat someone, go on yellow. By the time you dump the clutch it'll be green.
That may be true at a dragstrip but if you go on a yellow at the traffic lights you must have a very slow car if it dont move till the lights green,
.....and you cant practice staging at a traffic light....

Maybe I should have worded it better, practice launching would do it.

Damn right it is, Bob.

What was the spec of your car when you ran 11.7s?
