Not open yet, but yes it starts on the Hinckley side of Earl Shilton and runs over the fields near Elmsthorpe and rejoins the A47 inbetween Shilton and Leicester near the Caterham dealers.

I must say that having owned a few Imprezas I never had much trouble with other drivers or bad reactions. I always kept the cars standard though, no big wings or massive mudflaps and I never tailgate people, even if they are crawling. Just sit back a decent distance and it makes overtaking easier when the opportunity arises.
If anyone ever tried a 'traffic light grand prix' with me then I set of deliberately very slowly. This annoys the idiots much more than if you race them and win!
There's a couple of Imprezas regularly come through our village and they have VERY loud aftermarket exhausts that echo between the houses. I can understand why they may not be popular with residents.

I've found that peoples reactions locally has gone through a cycle. When I first started driving them, only the petrol heads and rally fans paid much notice. Then as they became more common, and louder, the "anti" brigade came out in force. People looking at you like your a paedo, terrorist, burglar or all three. I even had people accost me in car parks telling me what they thought of "people like you" that drive "cars like that" That slowly wore off, but is coming back with the PC, Global Warming tree huggers and the school run mum know it all's, that think that they're SOOOO much better than you driving little Sebastian and Rapunzel to school in their minibus, sorry, super safe MPV's that they park on the pavements, yellow lines and zig-zags outside schools because it isn't safe with all the traffic for their precious spawn to walk 50 yards to the car.

some valid points on this thread guys. i had a run in with a fellow scooby driver the other day! had just gone past drayton manor on the b roads. nice relaxing drive to watch lee evans with the gf in birm, a black classic comes screaming from the opposite way in the middle of both lanes overtaking traffic on his sise. showwered me with stones and put a 5" crack in my windscreen. few days later.....new windscreen and a £60 sx!!!! cheers mate!

I know the feeling about people thinking your scum and a roadhog just because you own a scooby. I drive very slowly along our lanes until I get to the main road and there's one spot where a stupid dog quite often runs out so I normally do about 15-20 with a watchful eye and then one day the silly b**ch ran out from behind a parked car. I broke very hard and managed to escape with minimal contact but the owner came running out accusing me of always driving like an idiot in my stupid car I replied "madam if I didn't have the car I have with the brakes it has your dog would be dead rather than embarassed." Anyway her son came out and apologised and told her I didn't drive fast I was one of the few respectable ones and her dog was a damented b**ch. His wife is a vet and she cofirmed the mutt was fine. It has run out at me since - RESPECT.

hi guys, im 24 and consider to myself to drive my impreza pretty sensible and only give it a little extra if i know the road, ie twisty back roads that are quiet and can see for miles as over the fields, Great Wakering kinda or burnham way if your intrested. Being 24 get the few odd looks from the kids in there saxos and corsa's n that, mainly because i do look few years younger i guess, but i own mine and insure it fully comp myself so does get frustrating if someone says "out in daddys car" but hey i laugh it off and dont rise to it.

definatly had the white van crew tailgating me few times trying to make me go faster just because got a scooby when im just about to turn off or just overtaken me on blind corners. had one instance of a road, bit ov a twisty but only a 40mph limit, where mr van man was pushing me along decided to over take me but i had already come from other direction and seen the old bill out in their money collecting van , a quick flash flash and he was done. must admit did make me chuckle.

I had a Scooby sit right on my **** yesterday, it had just started to chuck it down and was getting dark. He was that close to me I couldn't see his headlights and I would have moved over if it wasnt for the fact there was traffic there oddly enough!!!

I'm all for Scoobs acknowledging one another but sat inches from my **** isnt one of those ways!!

As someone recently pointed out: there are plonkers in every vehicle! They stand out more in high performance cars, especially ones as unsubtle as Scoobies and Evos.

I don't think driving one of these cars invariably makes you a target, it does, however, definitely affect the way you attribute the bad driving of others.

i.e. "He's only driving up my backside 'cause I'm in a Scooby"

Well, no, he might just be driving up your backside 'case he's an idiot - and he'd do it even if you were in a Metro!

You need to take the rough with the smooth; pretty soon the idiots will have written off all the bad examples and move on to something else.
