How come the if the Bug is an STI RA why hasn't it got DCCD and a sticker over where the diff wheel should be?

Personally I'd have neither and buy a P1 if I had £8K to spend.

The three places you've just mentioned are TBH the best places to look on really. Looking on the Autotrader you'll pick up an 05 typeUK easily. I'd be looking at cars prices a grand over your budget with a view to getting a reduction.

I'd be after a classic in any case as this'll be where the best value for money is, low depreciation and the lowest tax rates.

Eddscott

The white bugeye looks like a verry messed up early Type A STi RA.

Early release Bugeye RA's came without DCCD and the car was quietly dropped when the Type B STi's were released as it wasn't a hit.

The RA appeared again as a RA Spec C in a more hardcore guise with masssive weight loss and more mods. It was originally listed as two models, a 16" wheel version with DCCD and a 17" version with different specs and no DCCD.

All in all a bit of a mess really LOL

i must be the one of only few that actully likes the white one lol

i think the kit looks nice on the ra and it looks very clean

i like it as its got a nice kit and few extra mods on exteria like carbon mirrors, shark type fin at back , gold wheels etc plus it only has 32000 miles thats good for a 2001, i really cant see whats so bad about it. i also heard the ra types are rare and more desirable and hold there price.

downside his discription on power figures etc,

as for the blue wrx, i like that too colour is nice but common, full service history. what i really liked about the car was the engine has been modded now producing 320bhp

only downside is it has 71000 miles on clock, and the big spoiller on back im not sure if i love or hate it lol

all the things you like about the cars is what would put most people off,
its not a bad thing, it just mean your tastes arnt the same as most,
but when you come to sell, it would be a lot harder, and you wouldnt get anywhere near what you want, which is why the two cars you are looking at should be priced at the lower end of the market but they are not, they are priced high, my advice would be to buy either at a very good price or look at elsewhere

if you want to wash the best partof £10k down the drain then jump in for whatever takes your fancy.
The white car is barry tat imo, certainly not worth anywhere near what its up for, dont believe me then check the auction after it's finished and make the owner a cheeky very low offer.
The blue one is much loved and everyone knows it well, doesnt mean you cannot get a lot more for your money though.

Whatever happens, the car will not be worth a patch what you paid after just a year or so, be wise to that and hopefully we wont see another "OMG trade in value of my new sti!!!!!!!!!!" thread in the future.

Buy a cheap arsed classic for a grand and enjoy it as a disposable item.

yes ok thanks i will indeed rethink about which cars i go for, how much would u guys say each of them cars the white ra and blue wrx are really worth given whats with them?

i have around 7.5 - 8k tops at the most, im looking at the newer type models as dont really like the pre 2001 cars, so looking for 2001 - 05 models so what car / model/ year / would you go for thats going to hold its value?, so lets say i get bored in a year or twos time and want to sell with the intention of getting most of my money back.

Nothing post 2001 will hold its value. As I've said earlier, look for a pre 2001 if you want a slow depreciating car. These will have lost most of their money, and perhaps certain models will rise in value, especially when the £450 per year tax comes in. Why do you not like pre 2001 cars?

Have a look at this and tell me the two horrid things you're interested in look better!

If it were my money i go for something more like this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STi-Type-UK-03-Reg-Rally-Blue_W0QQitemZ360098334526QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item 360098334526&_trkparms=39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A10|240%3 A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

You could always ruin it with stickers if thats your thing, but at least you'd be starting with a decent base car

biggs, yeah i like that nice motor, however only have around 7.5 - 8k tops to play with ideally looking around for one for 7-7.5k so i can get insurance sorted with cash left. cant see a dealer knocking about a grand off that price, maybe if it were private sale.

I'm sure I've seen that blue one at a ESC tunnel run before? And at the McRae Gathering? I like it myself.

As for the white ra bug. I've seen this in the flesh only last week as it went past me whilst filling up on some jungle juice. Apart from the lip spoiler it's a clean model. Sounded nice aswell.

I maybe more swayed by the bug due to it being a RA and lower miles on the clock myself. But I also own a bug so that maybe why?

Don't rush into anything mate. Take a good look round. I know someone who has a 03 STi,WR Blue, mods to support around 330-340bhp etc and he's wanting around the 8.5k MARK i think? I think it's done something like 70k on the clock but alot of that is motorway as he was in germany most of the time but the car has always been serviced and oil changed on time.

Thing is theres no mechanical differences between 02 STIs and up to 04 STIs. Your paying at least a grand more because it has a slightly less ugly face.

With 7.5K and you don't mind bugeye front end, then the best value Impreza is the Bugeye Prodrive STI (Make sure it is a Prodrive with the correct bumper as many are sold as "Prodrive" and they are not)

You could get a black one with 7.5K of which only 200 were made so very rare.

Its what I would buy if looking for a UK - Newage - Non DCCD - STI.

I have to agree

the Unloved Bugeye STi of any description gives the best bang per buck of all the cars out there for sale !!

Bog standard / Prodrive style / JDM import / RA (ish) / Spec C / S202 / ...etc
