Yup the alloys are a pain to do but it is a nice example and full service history with all the trimmings and at the price you can get an STI for (the car that is ) some of these are real bargains
Think we can pull this one off just need decent examples pointing out like those
And anything is better than that white dog

i do struggle with the whole thing that £400 tax is going to make a decision between a classic and a newage. or anything inbetween for that matter
if they didn't touch the tax it's already £210 (i think) so that'll go up by a tenner year on year anyway, so you wouldn't buy a car beacuse of 3 tank fulls of fuel spread out over a year it's about bugger all a week.
people have the money to buy a 10 grand car but get put off by less than 200 pounds. i just don't get it.
if you can't afford the tax, you've got no chance of affording running it over a year.

Yes people can afford 'only 200 pounds' if buying a 10 grand car, but why should they, it's dead money. I don't know where you buy your fuel from, but it's more than 3 tankfulls of petrol
I certainly wouldn't buy a post 2001 car if it cost me £250 EVERY year extra to tax, even if Subaru made anyhing I wanted, which they haven't done for a good while
I imagine cars pre 2001 will be taxed more and more in the coming years, but I'd say the highest polluting post 2001 cars will be taxed more and more too.

The Prodrive STI isnt anything special in the terms that its still a 265ps car, its called a Prodrive model (uk cars) because it has the body kit on (side skirts, bumper, rear spoiler)

Classic tax is £185 per year. The highest banding will be £455 per year from 2010 which any UK reg'd sti after 2001 will be in. Classic tax next year will be £200.

Many people including myself feel it is indeed the wrong car to own, hence residuals going into freefall. My car is for sale on Ebay

ok just a update.
i was going to go for this sti
Revitupuk.com : 2003 Impreza WRX STI Type-Uk Only 39K Miles
nice clean example looks mint 39000 on clock.
however made my choice go go for this 03 sti, guy said has couple small dings but to be expected from a 03 due to normal use, same price as first car above but has 59.500 on clock it has higher milage than the first one, however has extras so i think its better value for money
[IMG][/IMG]
de-cat exhaust system
he said been re-mapped on road not dyno to approx 330/335 bhp mapped by andy forest on road, boost was set to 0.7 bar low setting, on the high setting it is running
1.4 bar midrange and 1.3 bar at higher rpm.
centre pod with gauges
cold air induction system.
dump valve.
walbro 255l fuel pump.
only downside i got to travel about 400 miles to pick it up and 400 mile drive back.
cant wait to get it. what do u think guys

thanks tony just put the car reg into dvla database
it does state the car is 141g/Km ( low emissions )
and also tell you the rate of tax at bottom.
Date of Liability 05 11 2008
Date of First Registration 01 05 2008
Year of Manufacture 2001
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1990CC
CO2 Emissions 141g/Km
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour Blue
Vehicle Type Approval M1
The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry.
*Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle*
6 Months Rate £66.00
12 Months Rate £120.00
so look like not all import cars are high tax class.

The white one at the start is Wrong!
The Black WRX for £6000 is loverly
The blue one with orange wheels is the nuts, but at that price i'd go for an Sti.
If you don't want to lose money & want to have one of the best scoobs out there (other that a 22b) then go for a P1.
Good luck, but what ever you buy, you will enjoy.
Ps I beleave the Sti has stronger inturnals than the WRX.

mate, if it were my cash I would deffo get the top one with 39k, looks mint and it doesnt look like its been messed about with,
for this age and price, I'd suggest that unless you know the car/owner or you can take someone with experience of impreza's to check it over and go through the invoices etc then buy a standard car!
trust no one

well in a ideal world i would have the 39k one myself, as it has 39000 miles,
however i do like the 59.500k one, as it has the extras with it,
de-cat exhaust system
he said been re-mapped to approx 330/335 bhp by andy forest on road, cost about 700 pounds.
centre pod with gauges
cold air induction system.
dump valve.
walbro 255l fuel pump.
speed camera detector,
so guess its a lower milage sti, which i would still have to spend money on ie. center clocks, maybe a remap after a while. or buy one i actully do like which has alread been done.
i guess you got a compramize someware, power and extras over mileage, and like i said in a ideal world id love it to have lower mileage like the top one and mods it has but guess you cant have everythink.
the guy forwarded the email off andy forest which was mapped at AWD in perth says quote: Your car should be approx 330/335 bhp when on the high boost setting. The
> boost was set to 0.7 bar low setting, on the high setting it is running 1.4
> bar midrange and 1.3 bar at higher rpm,
maybe someone on here can make sence of that email ( boost settings as puzzled about high.mid, low settings ) as the guy said its miles faster now than a standard sti & it still throws in back in seat in 5th
to be honest both cars look in good condition.
i have emailed andy F just to see if it was indeed mapped by himself
is it just me but would anybody else choose the 58k one over the 38k one bareing in mind what extras the 58k one has over the 38k one

Just check servicing because if the 40k or 60k service is due soon it may be expensive.
I understand why you'd go for the already modded car and (dump valve and induction kit aside) they are normal mods that most scooby owners would do but with 20K on the clock you really should be haggling the price down a bit to be more favourable than the other car.
With a ecutek remap you can have it setup to be able to switch between high and low boost seacrh on here for more info!

top car i reckon could get him down to 7700k
top one one would prob cost about 100 quid on top of price due to traveling and fuel home.
bottom car we already discussed price 7650k
bottom one would prob cost about 150 quid on top of price due to traveling and fuel home.
so both cars are close to same price, however one has 39000 on clock other has 59500 on clock but one has had remap plus has extras, other one dont.

Top low mileage one over the bottom "STI" (which looks a bit dubious tbh with the wrong stickers on it).
If your going for one, then a lower mileage "clean" example is much better than one thats been tinkered with.

i would get someone to look at it but i dont know anyone in scotland lol
as for tinkering well the engine was told andy f sorted the map and power the cars producing guy said hes a legend with subarus down his end.
also i would prefer the lower milage one but i know few months down the line will want it mapped which would cost me 5-700 quid but bottom ones already been done.
i have emailed andy f to see if he remebers mapping the car.

Have a trawl though autotrader, there is a nice 04 plate STI for 8.5k with fsh and low miles (34k i think) which would be a nicer buy
Wheels etc can be picked up off ebay for not much, the remap wont cost you that much, plus for the mileage on the one in scotland with the "natural wear and tear", I would prefer a looked after, non car park dented one (never had one car parking dent on either of my scoobs )

Auto Trader UK - SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0 WRX STi 4dr Saloon
I would ask them about the service history though as its not mentioned, but most at this age will have it
There are plenty out there to choose from, just because there are a "few extra's" doesnt mean its a good car, look for what you are really after, and forget the window dressing just now
