I can't remember any names, but I reckon there have been at least three threads on here with people who've traded up from Focus ST's because the new hatch with its more understated looks appealed to them. As Subaru have probably sold around six hatch Sti's nationwide I reckon that constitutes a substantial percentage and I stand by my somewhat shakey statistics!

Subaru seem to be following the masses with the introduction of the hatch, it's pretty clear that in Europe medium size Hatch's sell alot more than saloons and Subaru are trying to crack that market, however in Japan they much prefer a saloon.
It's the same reason why Honda haven't brought the JDM Civic (FD2) to our shores as it's a saloon despite it's performance beating the pants off our civic (FN2) yet the FN2 has out sold the ST, GTI, VXR etc....
I very nearly bought an 07 STI but i had to get a hatch for the dog, so the 08 suits me.

I like the practicality of the hatch, I'm afraid I have no feelings that for 'heritage' reasons the 08 should be a saloon.
And you could argue they should run like the PPP is fitted as standard but this has never really been the case for uk/eu models.
I'm tempted to look at non-ppp remaps... open to ideas

Kinda wish I'd got those wheels on mine, the GT1's are a pig to keep clean and gold shows all the brake dust Oh and I thought the 330S had fog lights, not that it would be a deal breaker, like the Recaros.

had my first run in a 08 sti today. Loved it. May not be as quick as the old shapes. But i prefer the seating position you can get.
Just got to get the right one. Cant afford a brand new one. Looking for somit under 25.
needs some cross drilled brakes behind the 18s

not that I'm selling now but I was offered £14.5K for my 6 month old 08 STI with 6K miles one the clock, wr blue with gold 18"s, privacy glass... ouch... against a new Mini JCW... so you should be able to pick something up cheap

Need to do mine trade cos Ive been struggling to sell my 182 clio. So that'll atleast get it down a bit. Just need to keep hunting. Got insurance sorted out. £650 not bad for a 24yr old with 3pts and 5NCBs.
The spec you've got is pretty much what im after. You got the front splitter and rear exhaust surrounds??
#47
wish I was joking, he reckoned I might get it to £15K. This, he said, was a Subaru main dealer and he tried an independant specialist. Not got the splitter or exhaust surrounds but did add the dealer fit subwoofer which gives the standard sound system a half decent tone to it.
Needless to say I couldn't take a £11K hit in 6 months... I don't think the high co2, fuel costs and general economy is helping... it's a buyers market.

BACK ON THE SUBJECT PLEASE...
If this thread's going to turn into another hatch is bland blah blah blah single reason for Subaru's 40% fall in sales..blah blah blah... reason for the world wide credit crunch...blah blah blah bollox... I'm gunna start infracting people for trolling..
Now..where were we....

just booked mine in for a remap fingers crosssed should see some massive gains lol
not doing the ppp kit on mine wasnt impressed with it on my old car i would sooner have a map done thats custom to my car rather than an off the shelf ecu which has a standard setting as evryone knows not every car is the same.

Have a look at the link below from the US. Basically the guy thinks that Subaru have stepped up the ECU and when the tuners have remapped, as they have done many time on the previous ECUs, this results in the ring land failing on the piston.
Thanks,
Paul.

I read that a month or so ago, What i cant understand is why anyone wants to willingly rev there car above the red line I have allways been told keep them 500rpm from the rev limit and your engine will be fine.
