[quote=JPF;8199877]Why do people always insinuate a poster is lying on Scoobynet? quote]

Too be fair, I never insinuated or thought that.

To OP just said it had "fallen off" and did not indicate when it had happened, I personally assumed that it was prior to the journey he was on.

It was jdmforest that assumed it had happened 5mins before he got pulled, I just pointed out that even if that was the case it would still be illegal & that complaining would not get him anywhere.

VDRS - vehicle defection rectification scheme.... unsual you got a fine + a vdrs, as the vdrs is voluntary...

however only 2 or so forces have got discretion back now so most are still working to targets..

officer was well within his rights to do the fpn... i got one for my no plate earlier this year..

unless I smash the front of the car- it ain't coming off.

and how does it fall off, whilst driving and you actually can tell- retrieve it undamaged and move it to yr windscreen ?

stop moaning and pay up
Why don't you read the thread. Let's put it this way - I don't bolt my plates on. I mean, who uses bolts to secure their plates??

I haven't moaned about it! As I said, I'm going to pay it.

Carry on until your next junction and then pull off to where it is safe and change the bulb!

The reason for strict enforcement is due to ANPR. Crims are displaying plates in windscreen as the cameras are set to a specific height, in line with construction and use regs. Plates displayed in the windscreen are unreadable to ANPR and will attract police attention, hence why the OP was stopped. It just fell off, I understand, has been quoted before.

So it's legal to drive on the motorway with a blown bulb

well given cars have bolt holes, you presume they are bolted on.

actually- in hindsight- will apologise a little- remembered today something falling off a lorry on the motorway and it smashing my front number plate- not clean off though.

so it does happen
