apologies to sky.it wasnt the hd box that was faulty it was my tv
it was still under warrenty so took it back and after much debate got a new tv.(even though i paid £499 and they only gave me a credit note for £399
as they said id had use out of it.they gave me a credit note as they didnt have any of my tvs in stock)i decided to put £160 extra to and by the 1080p version and everything is working fine.
