They don't use bluetooth, they use a Microsoft proprietary wireless system.
Shame they didn't also build a Wireless G adaptor into the Xbox, bit of a weakpoint for what it costs. I just have my next to router connected via Ethernet cable.

i have had a ps3 for about 5 months now. i miss the 360. but i did get cod 4 last night so its slightly redeeming itself now. but the interaction with msn and online chat during gameplay was better on 360. shame you have to subscribe which you dont on ps3. also ps3 is always updating so you never know what new features are coming. Just bought a wii last night to for the boy for christmas. Are they any good ?

A quick Question.
if 360's need a wireless adaptor, how does the "elite" come with wireless a controller, or is it a different type of wireless?
Asking as I'm getting tempted,as i may be getting a m&s credit note soon.
Just found it, its 2.4Ghz short range i.e. must be bluetooth.

If you want to go online (which you MUST do), you need to plug a network cable directly into the Xbox or buy a wireless adapter to pick up a wireless network.
The Xbox wireless adapter is about £50 iirc, so I just moved my router next to my Xbox, stuck a network cable in and bought a wireless card for my PC at about £10

Cheers if I get one, it'll be sited very close to the router so can plug straight in, I suppose I'll be able to "see" it on my laptop(mce2005) that gets plugged in to the same router via a long cable.

Well thought i'd update this old thread, as I've bought a 360 since then.
I bought it with the gears of war pack(1 and 2), and far cry 2, and have spent most of my time playing gears 2.
At first I was impressed with the game, and how good the controller was compared to my ps3 one...but then I discovered xbox live.
I honestly can't believe how much it has to offer! The gaming is fantastic - paying your subscription fee to play online is nothing compared to what you get...and I now see why the ps3 online is free: it's sh*te!
Everything on xbox life just blends together seemlesly, although I should maybe have expected that from microsoft. They are the experts after all.
I must really have been behind the times, because I've been amused for ages by the way that you can access all the music/video files etc on your pc as well, when using connection sharing - which is how I access xbox live.
So to sum it up, I am very happy with my purchase. £180 odd quid well spent IMO.

Nice spend. I've been really happy with my 360 Elite apart from the battery packs for the controllers both dying within their 1st year. Deffo pleased I chose it over the PS3 - I just don't like the look of the games - they're too clinical... Mind you, Little Big Planet looks ace.

just ordered some cheap as hell battery packs from fleabay for mine, complete with charging usb leads, even if they only last 10 months, its still cost effective
