Real Ale...BUT...

A cracking country pub on a hot summers day, sitting outside with friends...has to be a nice cold lager.

That's what IPA was made for!

Though realistically I do have to agree that a nice cold lager does go down well on a hot day. Ze German's do some of the best stuff though, and weiss bier

As a purely refreshing drink it HAS to be fresh orange with lemonade in a pint glass !!

alco: start of the night is usually a few fruit ciders (pear, mixed fruit, berry) then a few pints of lager (bit gay but i like that carling extra cold) but not too many as bloatingness occurs..then its the shorts. SoCo, vodka, spicy rum, usually with coke.

others..umm,

cream soda, D & B but as others have said, milk is a top drink.

Whatever I fancy at a particular time.

Welch's Purple Grape juice is fantastic though.

Dr Pepper or Mountain Dew

Although both need to be consumed quite quickly because they go flat quickly.

I treat myself to a crate of mountain drew from time to time but IIRC its £26 for 24 cans.

I make my own Sloe Gin, but I made some not with Gin but with AppfelKorn or apple schnapps.

It has an outstanding taste, the sloe goes well with the apples, I took a big flask to meet some mates the other day and it all went in no time! The difficult bit is to get ApfelKorn in this country unfortunately.

Ingredients

150g florentines
568ml pot double cream
500g pot Fresh Vanilla Custard
6 tbsp Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur
½ x 250g bottle Rowse Luxury Dark Chocolate Sauce, to serve

Method
  1. Place the Florentines in a medium-sized polythene bag and seal or tie loosely. Use a rolling pin to crush into small pieces.
  2. Pour the cream into a large bowl and whip gently with an electric or balloon whisk until it has just started to thicken. Take care not to over-whip. Use a metal spoon to carefully fold the custard, Baileys and Florentine pieces into the cream.
  3. Pour the ice cream mixture into a 2-litre shallow, freezerproof container, cover and place in the freezer. After 1 hour, remove from the freezer and, using a fork, fold the frozen edges into the rest of the mixture. Return to the freezer for a further 2-3 hours until the ice cream has set, repeating the folding process about 3-4 times to keep breaking up the ice crystals.
  4. Either serve straight away or, if making in advance, allow the ice cream to soften in the fridge for about an hour before serving.
  5. Serve in scoops, drizzled with gently warmed chocolate sauce.
Chill the florentines first as they are easier to crush
Keeps for about 4 weeks. Drink with Baileys on the rocks

Lager - Main Brands are easily drank. Strange one this. Stella in the house i can drink all night, but in the pub on Draught it sends me to my bed after 7/8 pints
JD - Love it, but sends me loopy
Vodka - Great stuff. Terrible hangover if its blue label.
Wine - If i am with "female" company
Tequila - If i am on a mission
Champers - If i want to act like a fanny
