Dunc: Your assessment is spot on. Any bar and plate is likely to suffer a much larger pressure drop and lag than the Hybrid tube and fin core. A lot of thought has gone into the core design to aid free flow and thus almost eliminate lag. This is why the Hybrid tube and fin easily outperforms copies that have not had the same attention to the detailed design of the core.
I have an APS on the STi 6 Wagon which is bar and plate and it is also powder coated black. The Hybrid Tube and Fin at around a third of the cost of what the APS was, greatly out performs the more expensive product.

The GT kit can run with the APS CAK but you have to enlarge the hole in the inner wing which is no big deal. Send me your email address and I will send you pictures of the enlarged hole.

hi harvey still interested in these, i know you have said it can be darker but a darker shade of the blue already, the blue is more of a sky blue and i was hoping to get more of a royal / navy blue sucj as the DBM any chance of this as if not no worries i will get it normal and try and get it done else where.

also is it better to have the extra clips and hose to cut it at the washer bottle,? does it make that much of a difference to fitting ? etc

i would like to get this sorted so i can send you payment this week

regards

Stevie : I think the easiest way to get you the colour you want is for you to send me a card with that particular colour. I am sure we can do a good job of matching it but if we feel that we cannot for any reason, which is very unlikely, I will tell you at the outset and you can have the pipes without powder coat and get them processed yourself.
To ensure you get what you want I think this is the safest way forward and if we get a colour card I am very confident you will get a match but remember we cannot powder coat tartan
For the P1 you do not need extra clips and hose as it is a straight fit. I think you have 2 fans on your P1. You may find it necessary to cut back the cowling on the fan nearest the pasenger side wing to allow the pipe that runs up the front of the timing chest to take the best route without fouling.
Let me know when you wish to proceed.

Yes. I carry a complete set of spares. What happened to yours?
One pipe goes from the TB to the top of the timong chest and another goes from there to the core discharge coupling.
I suggest you get in touch, harveysmith1@btopenworld.com

I received the intercooler kit for my newage sti last week, finished the install yesterday. Looks to be a quality bit of kit , managed to get a Jetex filter from a ford ka kit that fits in the lower wing area.

My only concern is that the intercooler pipe running under the car hangs very low, is it possible to run the pipes above the engine on the passenger side? will get some pics up later.

Richo : E-mail sent this morning.
Harry. I am e-mailing you now if your Profile allows that facility.
It is possible to get the pipework on the passenger side to sit a good bit higher but it would be a lot easier to phone you with the detailed info.
Please e-mail your phone number.
Ian/Granby. : If we fit your FMIC you will find the pipes sit higher and you know you like these bacon butties you did not get last visit!!!

I regret it has been necessary to review prices. Air freight charges have increase on each of the last three deliveries as they are charged in $s but with the falling oil price we may get a reduction. More signifigant is the volatile exchange rate. The previous GT Classic kit delivery was in early October, paid for in September but all these kits are now sold so the new price is based on the mid November exchange rate.

Funnily enough we have fitted three P1 in the last couple of months and supplied at least another two.
I include an additional joiner for the spiggot for the BOV. If you wish to reuse the O/E BOV or an aftermarket that is already bolted to the front face of your TMIC then you will need a flange adaptor, cost £22.50 when supplied at the same time as the FMIC kit. Other than that the kit is complete but you cannot run your OE airbox if you still have it and will need a cone filter arrangement of some sort.
Go for the largest filter you can get in the space available and I have settled on K+N.
If you email me your email address I will send some P1 photos. harveysmith1@btopenworld.com
We charge £180 inclusive of sundries as a fixed price for fitting these kits and it takes about six hours start to finish providing there are no unexpected problems.

I might be interested in one of these at some point, would I need a new BOV or would the standard one fit? STi Version 2.

Thanks.

You can reuse the OE STi version 2 BOV which is recirculating or you could fit an aftermarket vent to atmosphere BOV such as the Forge freestanding as fitted to the STi 4

Question

harvey, I see in the pic that the Hybrid SBG-D Boost Gauge only goes up to 1.5bar - do they do 2.0, 2.5 and/or 3.0bar scale ones at all?

Also, are they 52mm (or 60mm), and definitely white-faced without the illumination on (as per the photo)?

Finally, does the little digital window read the PSI equivalent of the analogue dial's BAR reading? Is there a peak-hold function too, etc.?

The guage is white faced per the photo and it comes with its own mounting bracket and adhesive pad, very simple, very attractive. 60 diameter and can be mounted almost anywhere with the bracket supplied but you could incorporate it in a pod. It runs to 1.55 bar which should be enough for all standard internal 2 and 2.5 litre cars and PSI is in the window.
There is optional warning light and back light control with the additional SEBS unit if required.
At £85 these are proving very popular and selling like hot cakes as they represent very good value for money and are easy to install. I have one in our STi UK and am impressed with it. Good looking and accurate.

Question

Cheers harvey, all good.

I forgot to ask the most salient question: is it a purely analogue mechanical (rather than electro-mechanical) gauge i.e. receives its boost signal by way of purely narrow vac hose, WITHOUT any electronics converting the signal digitally?
