Yes as previously said as a child growing up been Black, Ginger, Fat etc is a pain when younger but you learn to deal with it like everyone else. The whole racist thing is blown out of proportion.

Being bullied, and people having a laugh are different though, and as adults we need to tell the difference. Even a joke can sometimes cut close to the bone, but we still need to establish the difference.

They now all seem to be, by and large calmed down, and settled their differences. As I said, the fact is someone was offended regardless of how it is classed and should be taken on board. At the same time this has largely settled, and is just now going round in circles.

Ok, in the interest of peace and not causing any more bother i will make this my (second to last, sorry) last post.
I only responded again on this thread to deny/set straight the accusations against me of infracting everyone and to re-state the initial point i made which has been proven right now.

The point has been made though that this was not directly about slavery, persecution or murder. Just about a wee joke that was taken the wrong way and got outa hand.
The whole thing about slavery is that people who were less able to protect themselves were then persecuted etc. and because they seemed different, people thought it was ok, especially with some of the religious beliefs that were used as cover. The same would probably have happened if a huge populous of pigmy gingers had been discovered. Fear has a huge amount to do with it as well, as you know.
I know what you were getting at, I just disagree that someone laughing at something means they must have nasty intentions behind it, conscious or not.
I'm guessing you'd like everyone who laughed at the note to admit that the reason they laughed was because of some old fashioned racist values that have been instilled.

if we cant laugh at this sort of thing and learn to rise above it then your setting a bad example to future generations the more you react to things like this the more those with bad intensions will use them and the more thier views will be strenthened and thier ranks swollen.
By holding onto past anger and taking it with you through life will ultimatly makes you as bitter and twisted as the racist, which means you loose focus on the things you should be concerning yourself with ,leave them to it the reward they reap for thier twisted views is to go through life never really knowing the joy of true friendship and love given freely.
And while they are busy being bitter and twisted you have a very nice life

whats winding me up is the whole bandwagon thing. i dont know any of these people so cant be joking about my colour. my close friends no problem cause i know they dont mean it in the same way like some of the people on here.
im not hating no one and i dont intend to pass hate to my kids. i come from east africa colanised by the brits and the italians for over 20 years. a lot of my family died. but my mum and dad never said to me dont mix with him cause his white or because his non muslim. you would never see anyone in my family making jokes that would make some one feel uncomfortable.. thats because we have have respect and manners. something that some of you dont have. i would say 70 of scooby net members are genuine good people, but the rest are something else. they either have a problem against religon one minute,colour,gays its always something..
