I saw that also.

when summing it up didnt they give it a 7/10?

If its thats good why not an 8 or a 9?

Imho when you give something in life a 7/10 you think its better then average or its very good but flawed.

Definetly would of got the 330S if I had known it was coming out so soon

I thought the PPP is £ 1600 not £ 2500 though
Excuse me but how the f*ck can a hatchback have a stiffer body shell than a saloon car. Next you'll be telling me fwd is the way fwd.

with hardly any steering feel(even on Prodrive Springs) has made this a car that hardly anyone likes or wants.
I had a STI Hatch for a week and thats what i noticed most compared to all other Subaru's I've driven / ownwe.

I was expecting the 330S to fill in everything that was missing, it did with the power delivery that the PPP added, mid range and initial acceleration, but the feedback from the chassis and steering still felt redundant.

I wonder wot the 20th Aniversary JDM STI would feel like to drive with all that added STI suspension goodies.

Now if you want to see bad sales, pop over to mitsubishi and see how many evo x's they have sold, it will be far less than that of subaru

Credit crunch = higher cost of living = no extra spending = reduced luxuries.

The new EVO does a Rise and Fall of the Impreza this month too. In 1999 there where waiting lists by 2004 over 4000 blobs sold in 2008 less than 1500 total!!!!

That's not just a credit crunch it's the buyer as well!

Subaru and Prodrive claim they are very well placed for next year with this year used for development of the 2009 car.

Whilst I do agree, a well styled saloon would be a good addition to thier range and may silence some of the hatchback haters. I fear we will never see it as the hatchback is necesary for WRC.

And don't we all want to see Subaru doing well again in WRC?
Sorry but i don't think for one minute that Subaru were thinking about the WRC when they designed the new 08, more like selling to the masses and the supermarket car park next to the Focus, Astra etc.

Despite the mass opinion I have put a deposit on a 330s and will take delivery in a couple of weeks with probably an AST set up to follow. For infomation the Prodrive suspension kit will be available at Xmas and comprises 4 springs and rear bump stops.

Flame suit well and truly on........

Really wanted the Type 20 but couldn't justify the extra money especially with the frequency of which I change cars,so decided the 330s was a good allround package with the option of the AST's if required.
Also wanted a car now.........

I remember Iain saying you were thinking of a T20. Will be interesting to see how you find it and what sort of depreciation you suffer when you decide to change, which as you've said, shouldn't be too long.

thing is that now the prices are at rock bottom for most cars but the subaru is hit bad, pick up a low miles 08 STi for just over £18k ATM, only going to get lower in my eyes.

Sure i saw a PPP one for just over £19k as well.

I was thinking about one and pushing out the budget for one, however the sh*t price i would get for mine coupled with re-sale and experiances of magazines/People has really put me off TBH.

Will now hang on to the Hawkeye for a year or two i think and see what happens, if its anything like the bugeye situation its already due a face lift, lol.

Mog,

Going to test the T20 this Saturday and also lining up a Test of a 330s

Although I'm also considering a RA-R or converting my T20 to a T25.

Not sure of Suspenion changes with rthe 330S but I'd consider the Group N bushes and uprated ARB's

Would be interested in what you think of the 2 back to back and the difference in cost comparision.

What do you mean about the "Not sure of Suspenion changes with rthe 330S " ????

Will do have already Tried a few variations of the 08 EU & UK std and tweaked also JDM std & with Coilovers. 3 things i know from these tests

1) I'd never by one with 17"s

2) 08Chassis flex was still noticable even with coilovers and uprated ARBs in all cases

3) The JDM steering felt better than the UK/EU I was suprised by the lack of steering feedback

Sorry though it had spring kit?? but don't seem to have

I'll have to add suspension change to price of 330S to compare with T20 as handling is more of an issue than Power with me

IIRC IMHO

Fantastic car IMHO. I Seriously considered the 330S - loved the car in white but in the end got a great deal on the 08STI and saved 7K against the 330S list price. Subaru are not officially dicounting the STi but if you are a cash buyer and prepared to haggle there are deals to be had. Enjoy the new car.

Yup, fair point, I have not driven any JDM's and for pure performance I'm sure they are great. That said I am "Joe Soap" (not the plumber!) and just wanted a stock family car that can also put a grin on my face. So I guess my point is there are lots of choices for Scooby owners out there and in the end you have to choose one that best suits your needs/taste and pocket.

I own a JDM Spec C & don't miss the burble; the newage cars (JDMs at least) sound amazing in their own different way

I have driven and owned a number of JDM's and would agree in general but in this case the JDM compared to the 330s, I think the 330s with its spec wins hands down apart from the slight steering difference.

I would also question as to where they are going to get a model report from to register that car.
