Hi Stu how you doing?

As Admin/site owner on another site i would just like to say a good team of moderators you can't beat and the infraction system just does not work IMHO of course!

Bring back real moderators that can be monitored by the Admin and then i think things will run smooth!

Like i said on another post i got 3 infraction that was petty IMHO so i didn't argue about them as we would only get more for "wasting" the Admins time! Check for your self view profile <----- I have paid £18 towards this site also and if the Admin didn't like what i said or was deemed to waste his time then i could get banned! It just feels like we are walking on egg shells! Like i also said i done alot of reading before i posted so check my joining date!

Anyways thats my 2p's worth i am off to go and sit back int he corner!

Cheers!
cossie-nutter

Ps. Good to see you posting and trying to sort this mess out!

It wasn't so long ago he had an issue with Sonic (Sure it was him) regarding a thread I too was posting in.

Invited Sonic to Admin thread, but threatened anyone else who posted in there with an instant ban.

I've been a member since May 2005, and never had any issue with Webby in all that time. That issue with Sonic opened my eyes though. Banning people for giving an opion on what Sonic was saying was out of order IMHO.

Infraction system is a farce though. Been given a few myself. All for no valid reason I may add.

Until i sat down and gave Simon's system some thought i agreed with you 100%, but i can see the thought behind it and as far as i can see, its only actually let down by the users. LOL. Typical of most good features... Make them idiot proof and along come bigger idiots.

I like this way too, but it will ultimately be down to the new administrator in the end and i am certain he will investigate all avenues and settle on whatever he/she feels best for the community.

Interesting read this thread.

After the total abuse of the infraction system this weekend, that is the only thing I would like to say bye bye to.

Search not working has been a bit of a pain, but generally, I don't think much else has changed.

More Mods, errr, not sure. The ones we have seem to be doing a good job, especially Sal (she paid me to say that)

Glad IB are finally taking an interest in their investment.

Already said goodbye to the old condescending webmaster, now please do the same with his infraction system. Hopefully some of the old banter will return.

search working for me now too

Thanks Stu for taking the time to post today, the purpose of the poll was to try and get some ideas and constructive comments as a fair number of paid members have been feeling a little unloved since IB has owned SN and the Bugs section seems to be the worst affected

Once again though thanks, and hopefully response times will reduce dramatically

Can I ask a question though, how come it is taking so long to respond and get things resolved, especially considering the size of IB compared to Simon & Shaun who ran things previously?

It isnt a dig by the way, it is a genuine question

I can't vote on this poll as I've not been around long enough to know how things were before IB got involved.
Suffice to say it's good to see Stewart responding to long standing issues and maybe things will start to improve from now on.

Whoever has infracted on this thread - You are the problem of this site.

Excellent post

I don't understand the need for some of the 'Grandfather rights' on this site. Why do I need to of been a member for 2 years or of post whored my way to 1000 posts before i can rate someones post or infract someone? As someone has said the infraction sytem would work if it took more than one person to infract.

Thats one of its few merits. It became substantially worse when it was opened up to abuse by non-paying members.

If it took more than one person to 'create' an infraction it wouldn't be open to abuse.

Everyone else said that who hadn't been here for more than two years or had more than a 1000 posts.

These are of course the very same people who thought National Service was a bloody stupid idea until they became too old for it Now it's "Rrraaahh!!!! Bring back birching! National Service!!! Conscription and paint offenders wierd colours!"

The grandfather rights was to stop people creating new accounts just to be disruptive. Of course they still CAN but in a more limited manner.

Quite possibly. If real community opinion could affect infractions given that would help also, as its currently negative only. Admin abuse must also be factored out.

The thing is Simon: people get their panties in a twist when people neg their posts. So while I agree with the idea in principle, it's still going to breed resentment.

I dunno.... I just think people need to learn to take criticism better, or make more of an effort to appeal against unjust infractions.

I always think of it in the same way as people "not wanting to get involved" when they see something wrong going on. I've never understood that mentality myself, and I can't understand why people complain about infractions in the original thread but never bother reporting it.

Kind of like complaining about who is in power in a democracy when you didn't vote.

Things like that don't bother me one jot, Kieran. But I got a tad upset at being infracted with an Abusive/Offensive comment. You know what I said?

"Shame on you" to a racist comment. Hardly offensive eh? That to me is abusing the system and needs stopping asap

but you DID complain, so the comment is utterly not aimed at you. If EVERYONE appealed against an unjust infraction it would either bring the whole process crashing to its knees or get rid of the abusers.
