To cut a long story short, the recruiters called me tuesday evening asking me to have an interview on the wednesday afternoon (bearing in mind they know I am currently working) and without sending me the job spec. I think I would have been really successful at that interview!! NOT

Incidentally, on the "we can't fill a position" topic...
Can we find a SQL support guy? Nope. 80% SQL 20% Infrastructure (Server) support and we simply can't find anyone.

Dont mention that, im suffering with that at this moment. Recruiters picked my CV up from Monster, showed it to their client and the client wants to see me. Recruitment spoke with me last Wednesday and said they would email me the job spec etc. Tuesday this week still no job spec so I thought they may have filled the position, no worries as I have an interview for a different job on friday anyway.
Fine I said, but have you seen my current address?
Yes sir, Camborne, Cornwall.
You realise it would take me at least 5 hours to drive to work?
Oh really ...?
So, I said, where are Impact Solutions based (the consultants - he'd mentioned the name).
We're in India sir .....
Doh ................................ I'd asked because of the thick Indian accent ..

Been out of work since October. Motor Trade is dead now! Every job paper I buy and recruitment agency I approach have virtually nothing. And what the agencies do have is crap!
Went for a recruitment agency job, nearly accepted it until the interviewer said about extra "on call" responsibilites, found out the week had gone from 50 to 58 hours a week! Things that were not mentioned at the interview. Said (virtually) that he knew I was desperate for work and therefore would accept a pay cut too.
Now some will say I should of taken it anyway but would you want to work for someone like that? Some employers are using the downturn to squeeze people into doing more than their fair share. "lucky to have a job arent you..."
To get back on track. I cant exactly apply for any other type of work (regardless of whether Id be able to do it) because all my CV says for the last 10 years is Volkswagen and Mercedes and whose going to consider me for a IT role (example) when theres a thousand other guys out there with even 2 years experience.

Don't knock yourself.... if you turned up at my gaff and we're alright, good sense of humour and were willing to work as part of a team you'd be in like Flynn... during the interview you may think "**** this is tough" but the behind closed doors wash up afterwards is "they seem normal and have the right positive attitude, so they'll do".... easy as!
