I agree with Nat. It is a story of a kid abused and killed by those closest to him. It is indeed sad, but unless you personally know the child or were a relation why involve yourself in the grief so much you'd want to place flowers at the place his ashes were scattered. It is like the whole Di thing again, a way over the top overeaction.
Don't know if you have a child but if you do/don't then you'll know how protective a mother and father naturally are to their children. The only positive is that its put it in the spotlight and hopefully (even though it will still happen) some children who get abused *may* benefict from increased services *hopefully*

I'm fully versed with the story. I do have 2 kids of the very same age. Yes it's a very, very sad situation and absolutely nobody can condone the actions of the evil persons responsible. There are as far as I know several inquiries ongoing to get to the bottom of the matter which will hopefully uncover the failures that allowed this to happen and prevent future cases occuring. If it was up to me the person(s) guilty of this crime should be hung from the nearest lampost.
Sorry if I'm not leaping onboard the public grieving bandwagon though.

Its certainly not a case of bandwagon jumping for me mate, as a fellow parent, the thought of someone doing this to a small child just doesn't bare thinking about.

That brought tears to my eyes, I'm not ashamed to say. Glad I'm abroad and not faced with the horror of this story every day to be honest. Not jumping on the bandwagon, just can't believe people can be so cruel to a baby

Its absolutley terrible what happened to that tiny baby. I'm personally having to turn off the news, radio etc as the hardest part for me is I have a son now who is 16months old and everytime I look at him it just makes me think of those horrific pictures and wonder how the hell someone could do that to a child? So so upsetting

I've deleted all the posts that were basically a flame fest. It seemed that there was some accidental mis-interpretation going on here and it was helping no one.
Some of the posts deleted were in VERY poor humour, and would in the past started Infractions flying....
PLEASE pm me or another mod directly if you have an issue with this.
In the meantime - Sara made a very very good post mourning the tragic life of an innocent, try not to forget that.

You know I thought I had seen the depths to which human nature could plunge to with the Jamie Bulger case. This tragedy was even more shocking because it was perpetrated by those who should have loved and protected the poor child. I know people don't want to hear the details but it wasn't just physical abuse either. The mental turmoil is unimaginable too. They would snap their fingers and Baby P. would kneel down and put his head between his legs and stay there for ages until they told him to get up. WHY?! I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to track the scum who did this to him and meting out some justice to them.

This terrible case and all the failing that led up to the death of this poor child, are of cause tragic and awful. But I do agree with those who say the national reaction is getting quite Dianaesque. Why do the Sun keep on hyping this story, what possible purpose does it serve (apart from selling more papers).
The moral outrage is of course real, but where is that same moral outrage at the deaths of MILLIONS of children all of the world, deaths like that of poor Baby P could and should be avoided.
Let's all do something positive with our anger and frustration, I don't know maybe sponsor a child in need, then something good can come out of this.

Rightly or wrongly, most people have busy lives and don't give time to thinking about many issues, not just ones of this nature, and if the fact that this is being 'hyped' up, serves to make even one person think, and possibly become proactive in helping on a wider scale, then it's worthwhile imo.

So, the names are available, I am not sure how that helps ?
Are we going to form a posse, I expect that they will now have better protection than the baby ever did.
Lets get it into perspective, its horrific, but its very rare for a case this extreme, measures need to be put in place to make it as unlikely as possible to happen again but I dont think we can ever remove traits like this from human nature, spotting it as being a possibility must be very difficult.

Hopefully all those who want to send flowers (a meaningless gesture of value only to themselves) will instead send the same money to a childs protection charity - as thats actually of some practical use to other children in the same potential situation.

Sending flowers is a personal reaction, and heart felt. Just because someone wants to do something directly in memory of this child, doesn't necessarily mean that's all they will do. They could even actively support a childrens' protection charity to begin with, or may have done so as a result.

It is terrible what happened to that little boy but to me its a reflection of modern loony-liberal-left 'its not your fault if you're a scum bag, its societys' type of thinking that has crept like a cancer into every corner of public office.
No one will resign over this utterly scandalous situation. Those responsible will cling to their jobs until their nails fall out.
Look at how many scandals there have been in the past and how many didn't lose thier jobs.

I think it may have been your apparent lack of empathy, you did come over as being a bit senseless in the truest meaning of the word.

Baby P did have a funeral | The Sun |News
Good to hear. Although didn't really believe that he didn't have a proper send off anyway
