Bitterness??? What's there to be bitter about?

If you re-read this, you'll find it's mostly anti-bitterness comments (some a little barbed I agree) aimed at those Scots (no one on here BTW) who are leaking anti-English bitterness, anger and pettyness from every pore...

Ah come on! All this Diego cheat blah blah, although the Linesman who cheated to let you win the world cup in 66 isn't a cheat Anyhoo 67 was a much better year Beating the world cup cheats on their own turf... priceless, you can buy the DVD here England 2 Scotland 3 - 1967: Amazon.co.uk: DVD

But please don't stop calling us Deep fried pizza munching sweaty socks or Jocks, it's funny and driven by bitterness

Now that's Desperate (note the capital D). It's nice to see you've taken the time to alter it slightly from Maradona's interpreter, as calling the English team cheats was a little laughable and lacking in any real intelligence.. moving it slightly to a Russian Linesman makes it no less laughable however. It really just proves the depths you'll go to, to get any sort of win over the English.

BTW, I'll take back what I said about the comments weren't meant for anyone on here... You've just turned up.

And the desperate reverse psychology is also somewhat cheap and tacky... But hey, it was worth a go, just in case we missed it. As I said, re-read the thread... all the answers are there.

Yep Tam - We've never forgiven that w@nker Baxter for embarrassing the world champions in Scotland's Greatest ever footballing year .

Of course we did have Archies goal - which was probably the best ever World Cup goal - Shame it meant nothing in th escheme of things !

Its not just a scottish\english thing mate, the Mancs, geordies and scousers to name a few have a serious dislike towards London. Many of the those mentioned dont even feel passionate about London International (Thats England if you didnt know )

I wasn't on about the football team.. I was on about the country in general.... from the Scots perspective.

As for the North-South divide, well that's a different thing altogether. The Scots don't have a monopoly on that issue...

Living in Yorkshire and coming from Birmingham, I can fully appreciate where you're coming from. However, it is the Capital and I'm afraid is where the seat of Government is, where the Major HQ's are, where the majority of the tourists go and to where the World looks (finance, musicals, record industry ect etc)...

That's been the case for many a year and it will never change. We can only hope (and be happy) that other World beating things like F1, Football teams like Man U & Liverpool, majority of the talent and the unique X factor appeal that Scousers and Gerodies bring (to name but two) remains well outside of the capital...

But where I was coming from was that I'm afraid the bitter eye you view London with (if indeed you are English), is the same eye that certain Scots view the whole of England with (London is just an added annoyance...possibly the main annoyance to some)

Nah not looking for a win over the English, but I enjoy the banter As plenty on here will confirm I have many English friends, No chip on my shoulder I'm afraid Life is too short! I'm Scottish and proud I admit, but I'm also happy to see people from England, Ireland, Wales being proud of their nations too and I respect that I skimmed this thread and saw Sweaty socks, Jocks, deep fried pizza eaters and laughed I'm not trying reverse psychology I just thought it was funny and no I'm not going to read the thread properly, I have better things to do

I think I said the deep fried pizza thing.

But that was because they used to sell loads in chippy I used to go to now and then in Elgin. I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw it on the menu there lol. Hardly offensive......... or is it?

People have a tendency (from every corner of the UK) to just take it a little too far (way too far in some cases).

I'm like you, I saw the Scottish press taking it too far.. beyond the banter I feel, and so needs slapping down a peg or two....

The Scottish press doesn't represent the majority of us, just like the BBC doesn't represent England, the sooner people realise this the better, for all of us

I put loads of weight on when I lived in Sockland .

Again, as I said above, the take-aways there are SO much better overall than down south. I used to gorge on the chinese take-away near me. It was better than any top end restaurant I have ever been in.

I never did try the pizzas though...... That chippy did deep fried mushy peas too, now I'm thinking about it. Mad!

Delivered papers to Luigi's
Played the bandits in the Northern
Lunch at Ca'Dora
Dread to think how much was spent at Adolfo's (aaah, the mixed grill)
Smith Street for a change

Best nearby is on (I think) Queens Lane in Lossiemouth.

Bit more thought and I could come up with a few more, they all made a lasting impression

Bonnie Earl has pub, shops and chip shop.

I live there for 3 years. Great little city, and good night out once you found the few pubs in the centre.

Tam, you ever been to Javits in Edinburgh?

After 10 years in London it was nearly a religious experience going in there.

Sticking to stereotypes - I nearly wept seeing a king rib, mock chop and a chipsteak all battered and lovely.

Absolutely. Remember my wife's Scottish and my lad (who played for Chelsea a few years ago as a lad) could play for Scorland (which is causing me some issues...)

But you have to conceded that this miniroty (I feel the number is closer to 50% than you think) is a lot louder than you... Plus, you also have to concede that having your national anthem lyrics celebrating a single victory over the English isn't exactly keeping things low key and WILL affect youngsters view as they grow up and sing it...

Talking

Come on then - enlighten us with some of the great Jockanese achievements / history that doesn't involve getting one over on the Engerlish - but try doing it without browsing the web

I'll humour you seeing as it's Friday

It has to be inventions really

Penicillin
Fax Machines
Marmalade
Radar
Fridges
Television
Telephone
Anaesthetics
Pneumatic tyres
First RWD Bicycle
Tarmac

Must go and do some work (see if I can invent something to shut Jasey up once and for all)

And although I am true English, I think he first person to 'invent' the concept of the internet and put it into practice was a Scot working on the east coast of the USA.

As for Maradonna. Great footballer in his time. Shortly after he became, and remains, a total c***.
