We live in a house on one corner of a tee junction, according to all the information the gas co had we weren't supposed to even be connected to the main they dug up and replaced
The contractors saw our connection and, since it wasn't on their list, they 'assumed' it was redundant
To be fair to the them, if you saw where the connection was, you'd understand why it never occurred to them that it was ours
