My little sister is a copper and I was talking to her about this tonight. She told me that a lot of coppers think that traffic cops a t**ts and cant stand them
She also said they were taking the pis with section thirty as its nothing to do with driving lol and this is what it means.

Section 30. Cycling when under influence of drink or drugs (1) A person who, when riding a cycle on a road or other public place, is unfit to ride through drink or drugs (that is to say, is under the influence of drink or a drug to such an extent as to be incapable of having proper control of the cycle) is guilty of an offence.
(2) In Scotland a constable may arrest without warrant a person committing an offence under this section.
(3) In this section “road” includes a bridleway

Consider it a warning, Dont listen to people who say they will be rude back to the police.
There is no need for a caution, however either a verbal or written 'notice of intent to prosecute' has to be made to either the driver or registered keeper within 14 days (or an FPN or summons issued), there is no fixed wording for a verbal NIP, it just has to convey the intent, however the words you used seem most common.

I would rather have a warning than a NIP/Summons, failing the 'attitude' test is a sure fire way to get the latter, especially if you know you've been treading the line.

My 'best' was watching a copper in a bike pull up just as I was 'perfecting' my left foot braking technique at about 45 degrees of opposite lock round a large roundabout, let off with a bollocking, rather that than a summons, points, fine, day off work, increased insurance etc etc etc.....course I'm all grown up now!
