i'd take the new frs over the new impreza any day. for starters imo it looks as well as it'll go, has a more aggressive stance and won't depreicate a quick as a lead ballon falls like the scoobs seem to. oh and apart from that i can get ford discount. ok so not on the initial purchase of the car but i can on the service of it

but would i go for a frs over a well sorted classic or new age, no probably not. there's just something about an impreza saloon.

I hope the new RS is a good car, hopefully it will push Subaru into developing their car a bit more and push the envelope that bit further, benefit us all!

Look forward to seeing them on the road.

You certainly can.

I reckon, if the new STi looked like that, they would be flying out the showrooms.

As said in previous post, looks are one thing, performance another, but reliabilty is more important, and unfortunately japanese reliability is way better than anything Ford derived IMO.

That statement might have been correct in the 80's-90's but, I think the difference is smaller now?

Aren't we getting ahead of ourselves here guys? Ford may well go bust before Christmas

Just hope it handles better than the pervious Focus RS, isn't the wisdom that FW drive can only handle 220BHP and this thing will have close to 300.
It looks right but will it drive right

ford US is a different entity to ford Austrailia and Ford Europe etc isn't it? No reason why if the US arm goes belly up that the others will

the previous FRS handled superbly. too well in fact for the road. it was too much track focused (pardon the pun) for the road. it loved nice smooth tarmac but hated our lumpy pot holed and rutted roads.

from what i've heard the rs guys at ford have done loads of work on chassis and that's where the handling comes from. they'll have known what was liked and disliked from the last one. Lets face it this is being billed as a bit of an animal. there's always the watered down st for those that can't handle the RS

All depends on the cars setup i guess. My Escort RST had 300+ horses thru the front wheels, with the correct tyres, 7.5x17" wheels, stiff poly bushes, raised steering rack, upper strut brace & koni adj dampers/springs I found after some tweaking FWD was more then capable of taking this power. the gearbox on the other hand I gave up after 7 boxes

I totally love the look of it from every angle, cant say that about the STI hatch.

I love these sort of threads, always seems to bring out the worst in people

My Focus RS is running at 300BHP and it handles just fine.

I think the focus is quite an under estimated car and if people actually had a go in one, they would be pleasantly surprised.

Had some nice comments about mine on a recent track day at Bedford

Just hope the next one is all its cracked up to be, time will tell ......

As for the one thats been lurking around here, I think its this one:

I've had a go in 1, hence my original post!
Maybe it wasn't set up correctly, I live right out in the sticks and the roads aren't great, it just didn't do anything for me and that from a man who's has several Fords since he passed his test (apart from the scoob).
