Regarding the FMIC fitting these radiators will fit fine. It is a bit of a tight fit and sometimes if you have 2 fans installed you have to trim the edge of the fan shroud but nothing brutal
My fan shroud was already trimmed to fit the intercooler pipework with the standard rad, there was no way the pipework would fit with this new rad. Plus the fact the holes for the fan bolts didn't line up anyway !

Has anyone in this group buy managed to fit this rad with a FMIC then ?

Plus,I spoke to someone earlier who said the fitting issues i've had are exactly the same as what people have experienced when trying to fit an ally rad bought on ebay

I know these have definatly been fitted with FMIC's before on many occasions but tracking down someone who can send / post pictures is proving difficult.

Can some one on here who has bought the radiators post some pictures up to show where the intercooler pipe would go please?

I would say this would fit with no FMIC but it's not a brilliant fit tbh. If you are planning on fitting a FMIC then I would stick with the standard rad

I was looking at someones front mount yesterday to see how the pipes go. I think it would be a bit of a squeeze by the bottom hose. i don't have air con on mine so i think i may be able to move my fan to the other side or trim a bit off my fan shroud.

Edit:- It was a Autobhan 88 front mount.

I'd be surprised if you got it to fit. You have to trim the fan shroud to enable the pipework to fit with the standard rad so I can't see it going in with the Japspeed rad,if it did it would be so tight it would probably end up damaging the pipe !

I've spoke to a few people about these rads now and they seem to have exactly the same fitment issues as the ebay ones do

Bit confused with this as I have a hybrid front mount fitted to my RA. I have the fan fitted to the RH side of the standard radiator and have had to make no modifications to the fan shroud at all

If you look closely you should notice that the fan shroud either touches or is very, very close to the pipework. With the movement of the engine etc the fan shroud can cut into the pipework so you need to trim it to prevent this from happening.

Paul @ Zen made me aware of this and says it's common to see holes in the pipework caused by this problem

Don't understand that, unless you have different fans to me or something

I've just fitted a brand new Hybrid RS FMIC with a new standard rad and had the fan shroud not already been trimmed then it would have needed to be.

I'd be interested to see your pics as i've seen quite a few Classics with FMIC's fitted and they are all the same as mine

You guys just have no patince do you, some of us are busy and cant lurk around here all day

Anyway Sorry about the pics but I had stripped some of the front end when I remembered so put the pipe that I assume matters most for the radiator issues back on and took a couple of pics. I only have the one fan which is on the drivers side of the radiatir. I have quite a bit of clearance around the pipe and the radiator could be wider without interfering with my set up. I must admit I am not to worried as I will be moving all the intercooler pipes but that isnt the issue here.

Hope this helps

Archie

Here's a couple of pics i've just taken to show the problem,as you can see there's no way it's going in there !

Here's the standard rad in place to show the difference:

So has anyone else had this problem ? Have I got a rad for a different model or something ?
Sorry but my set up is not the same as yours. For a start I have a huge gap between my RH fan and the power steering pulley which you dont and that suggests to me a problem somewhere. I dont have a LH fan and as such could probably have a radiator around half an inch wider than the standard with no issues.
I still think there is something strange with your set up as the second pic above shows something which looks like an air con radiator sitting between your normal radiator and the slam panel this appears from the pics above to be pushing the main radiator/fans to close to the pulleys.

The reason I didn't have a gap between the fan and power steering pulley was because the Japspeed rad didn't fit !!

The air con radiator is where it's supposed to be and doesn't come anyway near to pushing the rad towards the pulleys.

I have now fitted a brand new standard rad and it all fits perfectly as it should do.

If you do abit of searching for 'Cheap ebay radiators' you will find a few reports of people having EXACTLY the same fitment issues as I did.

just wana say thanks ed for the bargain radiator spot on fitted fine even with my front mount was well tight though. just one issue the two pipes at the top of the rad are welded a bit close together couldnt get both hoses on so i tryed bending the top pipe and it split at the bottom but luckily the hose now goes on and covers the split and ive put a jubilee clip on over the split now its fine.just thought id share that info incase it happens to anyone else

Hi 340bhp-wrx, We are not sure what the problem was with your radiator not fitting, it just seems to have been a one off with your vehicle as we have since had the radiator you had fitted to a vehicle and it went straight on with no problems The standard radiator will no doubt fit fine as it is much smaller than the alloy one which is bigger for increased cooling.

As you are the only person who has ever had fitment issues with this radiator not aligning up correctly or sitting far enough forward i can honestly say it is not a problem with the radiator. Many people on here have taken us up on the group buy and have fitted theirs fine.

You keep seeming to bump this post up with negative comments, even after we spent a long time trying to figure out a solution for you and then gave you a full refund including your return postage. We as paying authorised traders try our best to make sure every customer is happy with their purchases. With this one off incident on your car you are not helping us as traders on this site even after we have dealt with you in a professional manner.

I think you have made your point very clear and i hope we can now put this to bed, as all the radiators we are selling have been fully tried and tested before being put on here for sale and have no issues with fitment.

Regards
Ed
