I have four - including what many of you term as a 'tramp stamp', which is a tattoo designed for me in memory of one of the dearest people to me. I have them all on my torso so that I get to choose who sees them AND because it would be inappropriate in my job, for them to be in places they can be seen (hence the lower back was the first one).
Yeah, by 'tramp stamp' (which is not a particularly nice term either) I mean this I'm guessing it's not the kind of thing you have, though I may be wrong

Totally agree that you can't judge people by whether they have tattoos or not.

I have a pair of entwined roses at base of my back and an unusual moon stars design going just above that up, up my spine til just below my bra strap which I know many will view as being tramp stamps. BUT, it's my body and they all have really personal meanings for me.

This is my latest, which some of you may or may not have seen.

Sounds like you do have something more tasteful than the norm and I have utmost respect for peoples reasons for tattoos as most poeple I know have had them done for good (as far as my opinion goes) reasons.

Yeah, seen the pic you've posted before, I quite like it and looks well done

Why should people who dont like it keep their opinions to themselves?

I I think they look ok if you have some kind of alternative lifestyle, like proper hairy arsed Hells Angels or Marines, but for me, a Computer Database Administrator to have one I would feel that I would be diluting cool tattoos for the people who can carry them off.

As for Chav, a football crest on a shin is the epitome of chav but some can look really classy, some make you look like you are trying too hard and most just look ****. They are steeped in being from the lower end of society due to them being used to look hard by cons, the old Love/Hate thing on the knuckles but some can be art, I am quite happy to hang art on the wall.

Funny how people get them to celebrate their kids/loved ones, which is kind of nice but I find a card on their birthday's does for me.

As for no negative comments, fair enough, as they go, its a nice design but dont post it up on an internet forum and not expect some stick, people dont take any notice and if you need to ask I have to ask if you are 100% sure about it yourself, if you were that thrilled you wouldnt give a **** ?

I manage to remember my daughter without resorting to tattoos, and I suspect she would think it a bit $hit when she grows old enough to appreciate such a thing. But that's us. Everyone else can do as they please...

Its only the internet after all

You are of course right. You remember your daughter without the need to mark yourself, which is fine, and I'd doubt any tattoo fan would shoot you down for that. Unfortunately, because someone feels the way they wish to express themselves, results in insults about them and others can irritate.

I'm not saying you have done this, but others have.

At the end of the day, some people like tattoos, some hate them. But just because they may not be somebodys' cup of tea, doesn't mean it's fair game to insult them for their choice.

Spot on

I personally love to see a nice tribal tattoo, turns me on no end.

This "tramp stamp" milarky is a load of old bollox. At the end of the day it is personal choice and does not mean the person is anything other than a ordinary person who likes tattoos. Why give them a name.

The OP chose to show his love of his daughter that way, good for him.

On that note, I may just have to go for another tattoo this weekend.

I'm sorry, Mags, but the thread title is "Tattoo opinions" and I'm afraid a significant number of ScoobyNet posters and the populace in general find tattoos ugly, indicative of poor taste and generally crap. If you post something like this on a general discussion forum then you're going to get people who are anti. Sorry.

Exactly, don't judge a book by it's cover and all that.

Too many people judge others for really stupid stuff, like this.

May I just ask - with respect to those who don't like tatoos why did you look at the thread?

If I see a title to a thread on a topic I'm not into I don't even click on it.

Because it's the internet and not real life ....... and sometimes people just feel the need to say "That's crap...." so they find something they don't like and duly post their "That's crap statement".

Myself, I like tattoos, they're cool.... and I'd never not poke some babe because she had a tattoo

Because I have a strong opinion on the subject. If it was a thread title about premium bonds, house prices, watches or football for example, wild horses couldn't get me to click on the thread.

i spose but. i just thought it was a tad harsh .

my family hated mine at first but when i explained to them what it was associated with they accepted it .

some people dont like em , because they associate them with chavs and hairy bikers and i am none of the above .

it was just a choice i made . maybe i might regret it when im older , maybe i wont . at least i havent got ENGERLAND, BULLDOG, TAZ, WINNEE THE POOH , TRACY or some other tacky **** that i know thousands of people have chosen from a book in a tattoo shop tattooed on my body .

mine is one off , all mine ( evil laugh )

So what are these strong opinions then? Or have you done them to death in other threads?

I have strong opinions about people who eat too much garlic, but I've never felt the need to alert the interweb.

I guess it's about personal choice and opinions being like *****oles

I still don't like garlic, or blue cheese

And I never ever felt the need to say this, to anyone, especially not on the interwebby

I love garlic, and slightly blue cheese like Stilton.

Do you think my last post ought to have had speech marks around the word 'artists'?

Not sure about that? What is art? A chunk of wood brutalised by a chippie with a 'artistic' bent?
