Iv been quoted between £30 -£40 by a local art shop/framers depending on what i want. Haven`t had chance to get back there yet.

We thought it was about time we broke cover and answered our critics & supporters regarding the sale of the McRae print on Ebay (the first one that is!)

We have already stated on Ebay our GENUINE reason for selling it and don't intend to cover it again here.

What we would like to do however, is thank those people who have seen it the way it is; namely phil wrx for bravely going against the initial lynch mob.
Also to Fantom & WRX Dazza who took the common sense approach with thier comments, and finally Shaggy 1973 who has been amusing throughout!

We will DEFINATELY be giving a donation to charity, the Colin McRae Vision, but at the time of listing we had no idea what interest there would be, so wouldn't set a figure then.

WE HAVE NOW DECIDED THAT 40% OF THE PROFIT WILL BE GOING TO THE CHARITY. (Along with everything else we have donated over the past few months this will probably be far more than MOST of our critics.)

So, the more support you give the more the charity will gain.

Please note that we have no intention whatsoever to enter into any further communications regarding this and will not be responding to any further comments on this subject.

As many of you have rightly pointed out, we don't actually have to give anything to the charity, so we hope our critics are silenced by this.

Nice one mate.Not that you needed to explain yourself to anyone on here,but at least you had the ba**s to do so.Theres plenty of limited edition stuff of all descriptions on ebay and if your lucky enough to have it,well its up to you what you do with it.Having said that,i do also see where people are coming from as i nearly didnt get one myself,but if i hadnt been able to get one the first place i would have looked would have been ebay,and i would have gladly bid on your item,as i would have been desperate to get one of these prints.The fact that you are giving 40% to the charity seems more than fair to me,and i,d put a weeks wages on the chances that your not the only person that has 2 of these prints,but some will just be keeping the spare one till things settle down a bit and then it will be straight on here,so i wouldnt feel at all bad about it or feel you need to apologise to ANYONE.
Just my opinion,may as well voice it before the government takes it away.

As one of the organisers of this event I feel I'm a justified critic. You cannot even begin to believe the effort involved by three volunteers to make this event happen and who just wanted to do a little bit to mark the life of Colin McRae. I'm totally sickened by your 40% bulls**t and do not for a second believe your story. If you were not out to profit from the tragic death of Colin you would have donated 100% of the profit from this sale.

I personally am out of pocket to the tune of well into four figures from the organisation so can clearly say I've given more than you and I don't even have one of these prints myself. I, however, can sleep at night knowing I did my bit to make it happen, made nothing out of it, and I'll forever remember that. Can you say the same?

are you people for real? even if he bought it just to sell on fair play to him, he has made his contribution to the charity so if he wants to make a profit on it thats his decision surely?

its like saying if anyone sells a series mcrae for more than they paid they should donate profit to the charity

The "Charitable Event" has been and gone, the organisers made what they anticipated through the sale of the prints and now ownership passes to the people who parted with their cash.

If they want to sell for more than they paid so what! The prints are their to do with as they wish!

I don't remember any small print saying people were NEVER allowed to sell them and if they did they had to donate ALL profit to charity

"Decent" So are you saying that the owner shouldn't be able to sell his print onwards then? As stated previously, the "charity" sold all their prints (except for some high end numbers they plan to sell on) so what's the issue?

Are you stating that ALL owners of this print shall either only be able to sell on at cost or if the sell all profit HAS to go to charity?

totally agree with pants, these prints were never made for anybody to make money off of, they were made to commemorate a great achievement in the gathering, its wrong for anybody to try and "cash in" on an event like this TBH

That may be the intention but the reality is that some people buy limited editions as an investment. It's not like anyones defrauded the charity, the buyer has paid what the charity wanted and he therefore owns the print to do with as he sees fit.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there aren't more people planning to do exactly the same. It may be frustrating for the organisers, but at the end of the day "that's just life!".

If the guy who sold the first one was a genuine subaru fan as he claimed he would have know that there were plenty of people on here and other sites that missed out on the chance to buy one of these prints. The decent thing to do would have been to put a post on here or what ever site he was a member of and sell it for the original price to the first person that responds to his post.

Well.... what site does he advertise it on then? SNet, SIDC, WR1OC, etc, etc and when he gets 500 people wanting to buy it for £40 which one does he pick?

That all sounds great, but in reality why not just bang it on Ebay and highest bid gets it.... simple!

If you don't like the idea don't bid for it..... but if someone is prepared to pay an excess for it, well surely that's their choice.

You seem to be confused with the phrase "volunteer" it means that YOU give YOUR time for FREE.... so you shouldn't now moan how out of pocket you are (to the tune of £1000+) because of this fact.

I'm impressed with the fact that the seller is actually bothering to give 40% to charity as I wouldn't have. You'd have got my £40 buyers check and that would've been that. Later if I got bored of it, had no room or for whatever reason decided to sell it (as I would be the owner) I would've advertised on Ebay and looked to get as much as possible for it!

You see the point is.... yes you organised the event and get a slap on the back for it, you've sold a load of prints and as a result accrued a tidy sum for charity.... but that's where your involvement stops! You can't then become some law unto who can sell these on, to whom and for how much! that's just plain silly....

Relax in the fact you were part of the team that organised this event and raised the desired sum for charity.....

well how would you feel to have put so much of your own time money and effort into only something only for somebody else to go a make money out of it, bit of a slap in the face ehh? for the people who didnt get one they now have to go and bid for it on flea bay at alot more than the going rate is worth only to line some d1ckheads pocket who bought it to sell on at a profit to them selfs in the first place, its not just the organisers i feel sorry for here its also the people who are buying these as well as there paying way too much, a bit like ticket touting this TBH

Maybe your beef is with the edition size rather than the fact someone is selling his/her property on ebay. I thought from day 1 that an edition size of 555 units was, at best, unrealistic as to the size of the following Subaru commands.

I'd hazard a guess that the edition size should've been at least double what it actually was, limiting it to only 555 units was always going to cause problems.

that makes it even worse then IMO, the people who were lucky enough to get one should have felt privileged to have done so and they first thing some of them do is head straight to ebay with them as soon as they arrive and sell them back to the people who didnt get one at a extortionate rate, remember i mentioned ticket touting is this not the same?...

People buy for all sorts of reasons, but the bottom line is that they "bought" the item, it's theirs to do with as they see fit. Again the issue is with your own "feelings" and "edition size" rather than the seller actually selling his property.
