I've got to get me some of this Haven't tried skid training since I had the suspension mods done, and with plans to take to the track this year I need to get a feel for it again. At £125 for a half day with some tuition, at a pro facility, it's a great deal!!

Cheers for organising this.

Well I am interested in this (spotted it on SIDC) and might get my other half to come along in his Supra too. I guess we'd have to do the morning as the afternoon looks pretty full. I'll add our names once he confirms.

Is it definitely on now? And what happens about payment?

Hi Jo, for this to go ahead we need 20 to bring the cost down to a reasonable price of £125, with you and your partner we currently have 15.
The problem is we need to notify Rockingham soon, one way or the other, and so far it's been slow going- not surprising given the lack of spare cash in most peoples pockets these days..
If you can try and drum up a few more on the SIDC, then once we get to 18 confirmed I'd be quite happy to call it a goer and gamble on getting the last few places before the planned date of Sat 28th Feb 2009..

OK, well we can both be considered definites now. I can't seem to post on SIDC these days but I've got another couple of forums to try so I'll post it up there and see what people think. I'll try to get you another couple anyway.

Right BIG update:

Yesterday I emailed Nanette at Rockingham explaining the difficulties we're having getting 20 people in the current economic climate and today she's kindly replied with this offer which may help us out :

Hi Jason

There’s no rush at all as using the Wet Grip can be tagged on to any weekend date when we run either car or bike track days which there are at least 2-4 a month.

Obviously, it has become apparent that the current economic climate has had an affect across the board. Therefore, I am able to reduce the hire rate to £2,000 which may or may not be helpful to you. Regardless, I completely understand if you have to put you plans on hold for now.

Whilst writing, I wondered if you and your members may be interested in receiving information regarding our own track day which we hope to run in May. If so you would as a club your members would be entitled to a discounted rate. I can either agree with you to take individual bookings or if preferred we could talk about sessions throughout the day for which I could accommodate up to 40 cars.

Thank you for time and I hope to welcome you to Rockingham in the very near future.

Regards
Nanette

Now this is a great offer, which means we could go with a lower number, IE more time doing each thing..

To go with a lower number, ideally that number needs to be divisible by 2 and 3, as each session (am/pm) will be subdivided into three groups for each 'discipline'. Now equal group numbers isn't absolutely necessary, but it would mean that if one group only had two people in it and the others three, then the two would obviously get more time. How we would sort that fairly poses a bit of a dilemma.

IMHO 18 would be an ideal number, we're already have 15 on the list (they need to be confirmed as it's been a few weeks), which would make the cost £111..

Also, regardless of this going ahead, the track days, that Rockingham are planning on doing this year, look like they would be worth considering. After all, they're trying to help us out, lets see if we can help them ride this dire economic turmoil..

Finally, we NEED the current list confirming, so can everyone please PM me to let me know if they're still interested or not..?

Thanks,
Jason

If you guys don't mind a bit of intermarque rivalry I would like to come along on the am session in my Vanquish S. I saw a post by Dover Nige over on Pistonheads a while ago about it and quite fancy the opportunity of seeing what 520bhp and rear wheel drive can do on the wet cobbles

Let me know though if you want to keep it a Scooby only day though otherwise I can confirm my place - assuming it's definitely the 28th Feb.

Blimey..!!!

I wouldn't mind seeing what 520bhp and RWD will do too..!!

I'd consider seeing and hearing an A-M Vanquish S strutting it's stuff something of a bonus for us morning participants..!

Ahh, now this is looking better..! I was beginning to doubt my abilities to arrange a PUIAB..

Growler, no problem thanks for letting me know..

Thanks to those who have confirmed, just need to chase a few more up and we're almost there.

Regarding payment, which given the short time to the day needs to be sorted soon. What I was thinking, please suggest an alternative if you think this is inappropriate, is everyone sends me a cheque for the full amount and I do a runner.. No seriously, I'll hold the cheques until I get one off everyone, then I'll cash them and pay Rockingham. This way if someone fails to pay/send a cheque the rest of us won't be left out of pocket having paid upfront.

Does this sound reasonable/sensible..?

Keep pushing this as it wouldn't hurt to have a few people on reserve, just in case. It's nearly a goer..

Think most of the brewery is a bit low on the wonga. I've tried roping in a couple of friends but no luck thus far. I'd be fine sending you a cheque, though would it be easier just making them out to Rockingham?

Lol, yes I suppose they wouldn't mind receiving a bunch of cheques, so long as the add up to the same amount..

Otherwise we could just pay Rockingham direct, but personally I'd like to know who's paid up etc in case I need to chase someone for payment..

I just want to make sure everyone pays up together to avoid any last minute short falls IYWSIM..? I don't want to find out, at the last minute that someones pulled out/not paid and the rest of us have to make up the deficit..

That point aside I'm easy..

How about we send Cheques payable to rockingham to you. Then you can track who has paid, and also we know you cant do a runner

Where abouts are you based jasonius?
