I say go ahead jonny , or at least get a price/quote sorted from the place you know and we'll take it from there ,

once price is sorted it seems the smiley's one has the majority vote so would probably be the one to go for ,

Let me explain and then we can all agree the best way for this to work
But I just wanted to make it clear that I am 100% in favour of the idea and would love at least x 2 of these myself. I do not want to appear to be unsupportive, rather I am just trying to help steer you guys getting the right design/supplier/ordering methods sorted

1. The designs that have been mooted for possible choices are all well and good but TBH the person who posted them simply copied some of the designs that were considered for the rebranding of SN. When you look at some of those designs the ones from Flat4 were the FIRST draft and not even the final choice and there was one pisstake of an option, hardly what you would consider as being ideal. Hence why I quickly knocked up a mockup of what the final design should look like to help you guys see where to go.

2. I have also listed a few posssible people to contact on here who do vinyl/screen printing as a business and would be the ideal people to talk to and discuss the designs and logisitics/costs of doing an order.

3. Once you have decided on a design and found a supplier, then you need to post back the costs involved. Dont forget you also need to decide if the supplier is going to send out individual stickers or wants to do a full complete single order and then be sent out to all the people on the list.

4. Finally you need to decide how people are going to pay as some methods carry extra costs, such as Paypal etc

I have been involved in sorting out hundreds of vinyl and stickers before and I know what a pain it can be, so I just wanted to give you a friendly heads up at what is involved.
Apart from that, good luck

I suggest you reread my post as I clearly stated that it is quite a big undertaking to do a sticker order like this and I was simply trying to steer, whoever ran this idea, in the right direction in terms of supply, ordering, payments etc.

Can i make a suggestion that whoever can make these stickers sets it up as either an ebay item or as a one page website with some sort of shopping cart system, as I have seen many group buys go wrong in the past because of payments emails and cockups flying all over the place.

Can someone nominate them selves as leader who can contact a few people on behalf of everyone that wants one so we dont end up with dozens of people contacting the same suppliers.

Got to be the smiley one! (didn't ex-webby throw a fit when we last wanted to make stickers!? nice to see internet brands have taken a diiferent stand )

well i for one think swiss has got it sussed , we need to calm down and get some firm figures/designs sorted , im more than happy to make a few calls over the weekend and on monday to get some sort of idea ,

What sort of size should we go for and will we want internal and external vinyls ??

Like i said i'm more than happy to spend some time sorting this out , but i dont want to end up with a big frantic mess of emails and confusion , so as i stated above we need to get some firm figures for us all to work with ,

I take it to really simplify things we should stick with what seems to be a popular demand of the "smilies" one is this correct ?

Also i am not intending to make anything out of this but just to cover the cost etc ,

Spot on Dave

As I mentioned, I just wanted to give constructive advice and get the ball rolling but to make sure that anyone who took this on, knew the logistics involved.

If you need a point of sale location, then I am more than happy to host the website on which to order. You can even whack it all on the Colin Mcrae website if you guys wish. I can knock up a special page for the ordering with links to paypal etc

Big thanks to Sparky and Swiss for bringing some controlled organisation to this popular idea , as I for one would hate to see it go down the pan becuase of mass confusion and **** poor organisation. Too many cooks spoil the broth an all that...

I would like them to go in the rear windscreen as I already have stickers in the rear quarter of the passenger doors, but I know others who would like them to go in the rear passenger doors. I was also gonna suggest internal vinyls but then some of us have rear windows tinted and I intend to get mine tinted in the future so maybe external? What does everyone think?

As I mentioned before , I am more than happy to do the website side of it.

So to ensure that this all goes to plan, people like the design and can agree on at one, the supplier is onboard and the costs agreed, then I see no reason why this cant get to the next stage.

Just make sure that you have the following in place:

Design
There are quite a few ideas floating around and some very good ones suggested Just remember in design, the old saying of "simpler the better" holds true here and for a number of reasons.

1. The simpler the design the easier it is to make
2. The simpler the design the cheaper it is
3. A generic one stands the better chance of being successful as it will not be car/model specific (see the problems they had with avatar models)
4. Try to include the SN logo as that is what we want to convey from the sticker
5. Remember that many of the people who are interested in the sticker are on SN but do NOT own a scooby and may just like a sticker to be on their other car, so keeping it generic will broaden the appeal.

For the design (whatever is chosen) make sure that if there are any logos or designs used in the final choice, that the person who created any elements is contacted and agrees to their artwork being reprinted. An example is in the new SN logo and its variants. Kev (flat4) made the designs and should be notified. This also would be a good time to request the high res artwork from the designer to aid in creating the final design.

Supplier

Apart from the numerous people who know of companies that can supply the stickers, I have detailed a few people on here that do it for a living.

There are a few people on here who do vinyl, whether they will be up for doing something like this is another matter

Try
Sticky stuff

Occupation:
Graphics and Sign Guru ;-)

or
Team_kosoku
Occupation:
sticker man

or
Sizer
Occupation:
Sticker Maker
(he also has a website that does stickers)

Decalz.co.uk :: For Shop signs, banners, A Boards, Custom car Stickers and Graphics

Now if you look here COMPETITION : New ScoobyNet Logo Page 3/4 will show you all the designs that Kev (flat4) came up with and eventually the design you see today on SN.
Couple of tips when contacting the supplier.

1. Have a final design chosen so as not to confuse the supplier with dozens of choices as they will find it hard to give you a concrete price. There is no problem with having a FEW designs as the suplier may steer you in the right direction in terms of which design costs more etc. They may even give you some pointers on which is best to produce

2. Fix a cost and agree it either in writing via letter or email.

3. Decide how the distribution will work. I know this may sound overkill on what may be just a few hundred orders, but bear in mind, if this idea of the sticker takes off you could be looking at maybe a thousand stickers and no supplier I know of will want to send out 1000 individual stickers unless they incorporate a charge in the overall cost.

You may want to decide on who is going to organise this venture and maybe they can be the central point of contact for ordering and receipt of the stickers and then they will post out the stickers to the forum members.
Be prepared though to buy lots of envelopes and be making regular trips to the post office

4. Keep it simple again on the supply. The actual production of the sticker may be best off being a certain size and be limited to either external or internal (for tinted and non tinted windows). The supplier may well determine which is the only option in terms of viability and cost ?
Keep in mind you can always expand the choices as and when the stickers take off.

Ordering & Payment

I am happy to sort out the central point of ordering for the idea. This can handle the ordering , the payments etc.

You may want to narrow down the choices to keep it easy like cheque or paypal and remember that paypal make a fee for the processing.

Hopefully what I have written will be useful to you guys. I hope this gets off the ground as my girlfriend has one of the old designs on her scoob and I want one of the new ones

Had a little time at work today so had a quick play.

Basically an updated version of the original.

Forgot to add I can send the illustrator file to the person who is going to get them made.

I want 1 big one about 12" long for my back window.

I like this.
How about having the scoobynet logo all on one line rather than having the 'net' part below the scooby part??? A bit like swiss did in one of the previous posts

Top work
Just a couple of edits if I may be as so bold

1. Could you make the suspicious smiley more purple as it is closer to the one on here ---------->

2. Maybe make the url smaller under the SN logo.

The logo I think works great as it makes the sticker smaller overall

Looks the dogs. Personally, I like the grey background, but could easily live with clear if that's the general concensus. Nice work

If you want that printed onto a clear background, you're going to need to get them screen printed, a vinyl printer wont be able to produce that.

You will probably find ( unless you can find someone on here who works in screen printing who can do a deal ) that the minimum order will be around 500, with the decals somewhere around the £1 mark depending on the size and amount of colours used. This would be per design, so if you wanted 3 different sizes, you would need to order 3 lots of the minimum order of each.

There may also be screen setup costs, which vary from company to company, although lots now include the setup costs in the minimum order price.

Worth bearing in mind as someone will have to pay this up front, and they could end up with a box full of hundreds of stickers they have paid for stuck in a cupboard somewhere in 5 years time !

Good advice Mike

I see where you are coming from. I had the same issue when we produced the vinyl stickers for the Colin Mcrae fund. I had to pay up front for all the stickers to be produced and had tons of them sitting on my desk. But I didnt worry because I knew that they would all go eventually

The best way around this problem is for everyone to pay up front combined with a full list of people who want it making up the minimum order of say 500 (which is easily done considering the interest so far and the amount of members on here)

* I say 500 because by the looks of it, the clear background is popular.

BTW I am only mentioning these facts to get the process going. I still think the final design may need to go to a poll
