Ride to work everyday come rain or shine.
I spent an hour last night getting the MTB ready for the mass of snow they had forecast. Was gutted when I woke up this morning to nothing more than gale force winds and rain. MTB is at home and I used the road bike....

Meant I felt like I was pedalling a marshmallow home along perfectly snow free tarmac

Am no expert coming off a 14 year old Marin Eldridge Grade, but this seems like a real quality piece of kit.

SJ - I've done a 10m ride and 4m run today - both completely splattered me from head to toe in mud!
I have quite a bad cold but decided to try and sweat it out. Hasn't quite worked yet...
I just love being outdoors, whatever the weather really!
Where you riding?

It's an old branch line between Harpenden and Hemel Hempstead - The Nicky Line, part of the national cycle network. Nothing too steep

Well I have
1997 Sarceen Tufftrax
2004 Rockhopper Disk
and my latest addition started life as a 2008 Giant Trance X1 but have already updated most of it. Should get back out on hardtails again soon.
Will be ripping it up round Swinley tomorrow morning as the weather is finally looking good at the weekend for a change.

MARIN-WHYTE 19-XC RACE carbon composite frame on eBay, also, Bikes, Cycling, Sporting Goods (end time 14-Dec-08 06:00:00 GMT)
made me laugh- just having a play on ebay- as a friend has an old Whyte mtb- keep telling him to sell it on ebay to some muppet who is impressed by fancy toys:
this is not it- but look at the quality of the advert. AND- why why why do people build bikes and then never ever use them ????
I'd have thought- day one of it being finished you'd be bashing up some hill on it ???? what a waste !!

I've got a 2005 Kona Kikapu Delux with forks upgraded to Fox RLC 32's (pushed) and Bontrager Rythm tubeless wheels. I guess including upgrades I've probably spent £2.5k on it plus loads on maintenance, I do about 40-50 miles off road all year round, probably a bit more in summer.
Also a Planet X Ultegra Procarbon which I got last christmas which I also enjoy, but thats more for fitness, get more of a buz on the MTB night riding.
£1k and havent bust anything tio date!
Shall be out at 8:00am tomorrow on the tracks around Winchester getting filthy, then into town to see how muddy we can make the cafe chairs

Some are just into the gear, reading the mags and it all falls apart when they realise pedalling four grands worth is not a million miles different in terms of effort than a 90 quid Halfords snotter unless you go through the learning process, get fit and do it regularly.

Gratuitous Handjob alert!
DSC_7920.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Built from scratch by me, didn't cost me that much at all with some careful spending and speccing. The Revelation forks have only been on about 6 months but they transformed the handling, it may look like a dogs dinner but it's bloody quick and has embarassed many a supposedly more "capable" bike on the downhills
Mates on full sussers get away from me on some of the faster rockier sections at places like Ae forest and parts of Dalbeatie but anywhere else I'm just as fast, including Innerleithen and Kirroughtree (2 of my favourite routes). The bike will take pretty much anything I can throw at it, it's me that's the limiting factor!
Plus it's worth it for the looks from folk when they see the name on the toptube![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
I'll only sell it to get a Cove Hummer, but at 1400 quid for frame only that may not be for a while
