tbh few little suspension mods imo feels and handles much better than what my wrx does any way feels abit special if you get the right one if you know what i meen.
but i wouldnt get a normal st185 there gay mine was a night mare unless you go for a st185 carlos sainz or wrc and im 20 and can insure one for just under 2k with 1 yr ncb and they are awesome machines.

If i was going to get another 4wd car other than my impreza id have a wrc/ carlos sainz version st205, they come with all sorts of goodies that just need connecting like the anti lag on them is injectors into the manifold needs a diffrent ecu tho, water injection all there diffrent suspension closer box ali bonnet they do come well kitted out.

If your thinking f going down that route your far better off with a 1.8T Gti.

Far more tunable and 300BHP is very realistic for little money. V6 4 motion very heavy and sluggish and Is nearly as thirsty as an Impreza - I've driven a few and hated them all.

The 1st ones up till 2002 I think are 150bhp and the latter 2002 up until the Mk5 are 180bhp.

This set up below achieves 330 bhp and 339lb/ft torque . I've just pasted this out of an old email . I was actually going to buy this car but after an HPI check It turned out to be a Cat D..

It was a quick a **** tho I can tell you..

* IHI Vf22 turbo
* 3" Maf housing
* Bosh 440cc injectors
* 4bar fuel pressure regulator
* Jabbasport cast exhaust manifold
* 4bar fuel pump
* N75j Solenoid valve
* Jabbasport 3" downpipe with Cast Outlet
* 3" stainless steel exhaust system with Anniversary style exit
* ChippedUK live mapped ecu software
* Carbonio cold air intake
* Forge front mount intercooler

About £3k's worth of mods there and you can pick them 1.8t's up for pennies now..

Seriously mate who you ringing or getting your quotes off ??

Have you used an Online search engine like confused or Compare ??

I had an Escort Rs Turbo when I was 20 and was paying £800 a year fully comp with No NCB - That was 10 years ago but IMO cars were more expensive to insure then as nowadays they're fitted with much better security from standard.

get yourself a car with cheaper insurance, get a few years no claims and then get a scoob. not worth it at that sort of money for insurance

I would recommend getting the minimum legal insurance - Third party liability with maybe restrictions .

Forget fire/theft /comprehensive insurance.

Insurance for young people in the UK has always been an issue for under 21's.

They don't want your risk.

I drive a modified WRX in Oz and premiums get unrealistic so I just have 3 rd party insurance , which is included in the yearly registration fee.

As a result ,I am responsible for all damage to my car , 3rd party vehicle /property damage ( if Insurers can prove fault in the event of an accident ) . So Effectively I am under writing myself.

without stating the obvious- but I will.

you want something thats far more fun than a scooby, pulls the birds, helps yr image:

well buy a house- if you can afford to waste £4k a yr on insurance- put it towards a mortgage.

far better having yr own nice place to take girls to than some 10 yr old wreck of an impreza and sitting in mcdonalds car park.

jeez £4K. why why why why.

what you going to do when it needs £500 for a set of tyres, £500 for a service etc. etc.

Audi S3 or S4 or similar. In many ways they're a better car than an older Impreza. The 4x4 V6 Golfs are quite good too.

As for insurance, ask around. Ask the right questions, try the online quote engines to see what makes a difference. Obviously, don't lie when it comes to re-insuring...

1) Mileage. Limit mileage to 3K per annum. They'll likely charge pro-rata for excess mileage if you overdo it.
2) Add an older relative to the policy. Try your Mum and/or Dad.
3) If the car's modded at all, return it to its ortiginal spec. Specifically, spoilers, alloys, exhausts etc...

J.

ok obviously i havent decribed my situation very well. i can afford it, just dont think i want to pay that much any more! i dont need a car to pull birds, one being i already have a model for a girlfriend and two im not a fat ugly bloke (no offence to you who are )
im not ever in my life going to have a 1.2 corsa or similar.
i have the money for it but i dont want to pay out any more. i not your typical 'boy racer' as im a very careful driver as my premium is soooo high and i only use my scoob at the weekends so its a waste of money and i dont like having such a nice car sitting on the drive when it deserves to be used!
hope i made it clearer now
cheers
