I made my statement, people had an opportunity to disagree, to which I responded with my reasoning in later posts.

I'd say that that is a debate.

Try your technique in speakers corner....see how it goes down there.

I was mocking a social networking site. Not someones religious beliefs. Big difference.

I'm not entirely sure you can grasp the commonly used debate format and technique I was using. Perhaps you should try yours on the Viz's readers' letters page, I'm sure it'll fit in well there.

Unfotunately my mate isn't as computer savvy as you or I. God knows what will have happened while I've been away for the weekend

Not quite, you branded everyone that uses it a "Loser" the religious remark was an analogy to help you understand.

got this from my cousin around 4 months ago

the whole thing, with the updated download needed and everything, but got suspicious and killed everything.

ended up spending a few hours running every virus and spam checking program i had while under safe mode so i saved myself, i then warned the missus not to bother if anybody sent it to her.

This is getting tough as I am not sure you really know what a debate is.

Argument....you've got that nailed [default quality of the female]

A debate usually has some "facts" to back up a [sweeping] statement.

Can you imagine the houses of commons using your debating technique, "All those who vote labour are stupid".

Thumbs down

Facebook, I never saw the point. It's mainly for 'social climbing (networking is the same in this context imo), I want to be loved and known by everyone, even if they're only a friend of a friend, of a friend I've never met in my life' types.

A fair few peripheral acquaintances I know tried to get me to join, mainly as they said to get their 'friend count' up a bit

Peter sent you a message.

(no subject)

"How are you keeping? Please take pity on me"

Oh yea, and I'm now somehow your m8, and guess what, strangely I'm somehow not signed up to this because you can only have so many 'real' m8's

When quizzed they say they use it to keep in touch with all the people they meet, here and abroad, even though they never seem to move out their bedroom.

New SN disclaimer: all is IMHO and contains no debatable facts

But then I'm a wee bit over 18 and out of it anyway

I understand perfectly whats being said. Was there really any need to bring an analogy into it? I think trying to compare the two in this instance is a bit foolish, given my opinions and reasons for debate for/against islam are very different from those of facebook. Debates concerning religion shouldn't be taken lightly and brash comments shouldn't be made to prevent offending peoples beliefs and way of life. Facebook is an internet networking site. Again, I can't see how you can compare the two.

Debate = one states their position on a matter or issue and then defend themself. That is clearly what I've done here. Content of the initial argument doesn't matter. I could have a green sock here and tell you it was blue. If you believed it was green then we would both give our reasoning.

Mobwars and Poker, the only reason I even bother logging into FB.
If your stupid enough to click one of those links you deserve a virus, perhaps even a genital kind.

I'm on facebook.

I have almost 100 friend requests....all ignored

I don't think I quite grasped the intended concept of that website

Honestly though I cannot think of a worst site you could have to put personal contact and CC details on. People who do, are quite honestly, stupid.

you goon!

I've put it in laymans terms for you. Facebook is, in my opinion, of less importance to society as socks. Just admit you're wrong and let it be over and done with already.
