even if you're right (and I don't see it), how would joining the Euro to have rates set for the whole of Europe 'even things out'

Owch.

I had to change £6K to Euros at the airport once. That hurt.

I had to go out to pay some builders on the same day, and the colleagues I was traveling with left the cash in the safe and didn't realise until we walked past the Bureau de change in the airport, when he stopped then shouted "DOH!"

We had to rally round CC cards, and Debit cards to get the cash together In fairness the guy did give us a better rate due to the quantity of cash. He now recognises us and says hello when we walk past his desk when we're in the airport - he must have made a good commission.

(And why cash one would ask? Well thats the ways things work in Spain: EFT is pain, or just doesn't work, and the Spanish just don't trust it, or don't know how it works, so cash is king over there :king; ).

If you want to have this country handed on a plate to an even more corrupt organisation than the one we have got, and to lose any vestige of democracy that we might have left with a membership of 10% of the voting strength in the Eu parliament, with our present politicians in top jobs as a payment for their treachery towards this country, then go ahead-vote for the Lisbon Constitution and to convert to the Euro.
