How many people on your ignore list?
#32
I would never bother with an ignore list. To me its an admission of failure and in any case I prefer to know what is being said and to stand up for myself if necessary.

Never used it or intend to if I didn't like what someone posted then I would respect their POV and move on no point in holding a grudge life is way too short.

What happens if you put someone on your ignore list.
Do you just not see what they say or do you not see their posts at all.
And what happens if someone quotes the person you've ignored.
The only person I've ever come close to putting on my ignore list was that ex-webby bloke

I find that most of the time posters have something constructive to say even if I sometimes disagree. I think that when 2 people strart arguing in a thread its genrally because its difficult to get you point over via this medium. Obviously we will lose some of the content by writing posts instead of being all sat in a room toghter.
If someone writes some arsey or disagreeable I ignore it. But would rather know they have said it instead of it automatically being hidden from me because they said something to irk me at an earlier date.
Moreover if I ignore someone who irked me I by addding them to an ignore list would remove their opportunity to redeem themselves.

I once had someone on my ignore list because they used to stalk my every post and write something totally hatstand.
Gave it up in the end because it used to eat away at me wondering what the feejit had put this time.

I had one, simply because that person, really, REALLY, REALLY bugged me. Their posting style and content just did my head in, and if they contributed to a thread, I stopped reading it. I found if I put them on ignore, it made life easier. Other than that one person, I just don't read posts if they're blox/trolling/offensive. If something really offended me I'd RTM it if I felt it had seriously broken the rules. I'm sure enough people ignore the guff I post, so I try to do the same.
