And another Nacro account bites the dust.

There is something strangely appealing about some of his posts, what a shame he can't quite tow the line.

I haven't read all of this but have been in touch with him.

He got some obscenely nasty emails sent from random email accounts - real horrible stuff, mostly about his tricky work situation but with all sorts of other stuff. He showed me one and I was dumbfounded.

If whoever sent them is reading this, there are people currently tracking you down. I'd be very careful indeed.

Indeed, the reason he infracted me was because he found the truth a little bit hard to swallow.

And yes back in the old days of infractions I could have contested it but I really wasn't that bothered. It's not like it really makes any difference and as far as I'm concerned contesting the is like running to teacher in the playground and telling because another kid called you a nasty name. Not exactly earth shattering is it

Finally there is no way I would stoop so low as to send an offensive PM, I never have and never will. If I've got something to say I'll say it out in the open for everyone to see . It may not be what some people want to hear but that's up to them if they listen. I also don't have to hide behind a keyboard and the supposed anonymity of an infraction system to defend myself

First infraction of the new regime I feel like a chav when they get their first ASBO, so proud

I've got nothing against COB, to my mind he just added to the general wonder that is SN.

If those emails/PM's were as bad as people are suggesting, then those who sent them need banning.

However, tracking them down and warning them to be careful? Well that's just adding fuel to the fire isn't it?

Flight - they came from random email addresses but some of the PMs were also very abusive.

All I'm saying is that they are being carefully looked at. I'm not talking about "the boys" coming in with baseball bats, just IT bods studying them to try and find who it was (it seems to have been more than one person).

Believe me - they are extremely nasty.

Agree.
Isn't there a law against internet harassment?
I have had pm's from people slagging me off from supporting a certain F1 team! How pathetic is that? (Runs and hides ready for the onslaught of abuse! )

Ive chatted to Andy recently also and he is alive and kicking but can you blame him if he didnt want to come back ? I wouldnt.

You probably got showed the same one I did....completely shocked me it did.
I doubt the person in question will ever get tracked down and even if they did I doubt it would stop them. They seem, by all accounts, the kind of person who would stop at nothing to get their kicks.

What I really can't get my head around is the fact that someone here is deriving pleasure from hurting someone else, why would anyone get a kick from doing that? I came here to make friends and have a laugh with like minded individuals, I'd kind of hoped that most other people would be the same.

If whoever is doing this can sleep at night with a clear conscience then they must have some pretty fundamental flaws in their psyche.

I'm not going to be dragged into this but I, like COB has a right to their opinion, whether you regard it as bull or not. Do you agree with people sending abusive pm's?

Having had some pretty nasty stick in the past, I now simply laugh at anyone who posts anything up.

I used to rise to it every time but there's no point - a nasty post, PM or email is just a mirror to the person sending it - i.e. they are very, very unhappy.

Very true. It's just a shame that their persistance is what wears people down, in this case, COB. So basically, they win.

What do they 'win' though? Do they just sit there and congratulate themselves on hurting yet one more individual? I've also been on the receiving end of nasty PMs on here and despite what you try to tell yourself the thought that there is someone here who wants to hurt you is very upsetting. Eventually you come to realise that it is the sender that has the problem and not you but it's not nice to have to deal with.

Yeah sal, mostpeople do come on here to chat to like minded individuals but there is a certain element that get their kicks by perpetually winding up other users. We are not talking the usual trolls here, we are talking about nasty vindictive bullies who relish the fact they can upset people at any given opportunity. Trolls can usually be handled quite well by people with an ounce of common sense. It takes a big man to turn the other cheek when people are sending you messages about your g/f amongst other things

And whilst I am in full flow, I fully understand the people who have mentioned the fact that COB rose to people's baiting and I concur that he could have handled the comments better. Tricky to do I suppose when you are facing redundancy, have no money, have to sell your car and the outlook is gloomy. It must tend to make one sensitive to an extent and that that was apparent on many of his threads. But regardless of that, I fail to see how it warrants the abuse he got...end of.

They win by having the satisfaction of actually making someone leave the forum.

I hope that he will be back as has been said before the 'bully's' have won otherwise, I'm affraid I bit with Foxy last night and i should have had more sense he just pushed all the right buttons. I don't like bullys and was always taught that the best way to deal with one was to smack them as hard as you could on the end of the nose. It's just a bit harder to do that on the internet!

I actually met COB a year or so back when I purchased some springs from him and a nicer person you could not wish to meet! Really nice guy and totally undeserving of any abusive PM's he got imho.
I can see why he riled some people as he had a "unique" posting style but I really don't understand why you would send him abuse though as surely if you don't like some of his posts, don't read them!

Come back COB!.....................

+1

There are a few individuals on here who seem to be high on their own perceived self importance, self-righteousness and intellect and delight in trying to belittle and demean others.

SN is supposed to provide a forum where people can have a laugh, make some friends, learn a bit (maybe ) and generally have a bit of banter and 'chill out'.

I don't tolerate people who are nasty or abusive to others on SN, I make no apologies for that. Sending people abusive PMs whilst hiding behind an alias or bogus E-mail account is cowardly, immature and about as low as you can go in terms of on-line conduct.

If anyone reports abusive PMs to me, they'll go straight to Stu, with a recommendation that the culprit gets an immediate lifetime ban. That's what they'll "win" for their efforts!

And then they will just create another alias. Can we not ban by IP address?
