If you havn't heard any of "The Fall" songs then check this out. Love Brix's green top too. Many of The Fall sons have a powerful bass line - Check out "Blindness" by The Fall too on youtube.

Alway's liked the bass riff to Prodigy's Climbatize.

Although thats probably because it the only cool tune I can play on a bass.

Can I vote for National Anthem by Radiohead? Nice driving bassline beautifully complimented by the drums as a counterpoint to the haunting keyboards.

JJ was my hero and the Bass player in my fantasy rock band, Strummer being the front man with Copeland on drums and the Edge on lead guitar.

What makes you say that ?

I saw the Stranglers in 81/82 at the Manchester Apollo think I remember the band getting someone on stage taking his kegs down and smacking is **** in front of the whole crowd <wasnt you was it Frenchie ? >

I had a couple of run ins with him when I was snapping for the UK music press. Very unsociable and always played the hard man in front of the fans threatening to use his black belt skills on them. An utter **** if ever there was one.

Wasn't me at the Apollo! (pleased you thought I'd be up for that )

Well he was French

Must admit I was there biggest fan till about 83/84 read everything about them, had every record also in the Fan club (even had a black shirt )and I never heard anything about the guy behaving like that.

Did look a moody ****** on stage though

I loved the Bass in "Walk on By" not sure if you call that a riff though

Ritchie Blackmores 4 chord riff in Smoke on the water.

Instantly recogniseable, and a true classic!

The Brilliant, but unjustly, much maligned Radiohead

I'm sorry, but what would be the point of getting three greats together on one stage if you aren't going to get a decent guitarist to accompany them

It was my fantasy rock band so no there is no point

And who's the one that isn't great ? Although playing the guitar was never Strummer's strong point.

Just saw this thread.

Back on the Tarantino theme, how about "Little Green Bag" by the George Baker Selection?
