I served with the Blackwatch in Iraq they are fine soldiers and will fight with them in a foxhole anyday . The Brits where Kind of shocked at the demeanor of the US soldiers and NCO's, my buddy Nads (Sorry didnt ever get his real name) always asked me are you guys always this uptite . Its just diffrent on how discipline is handed out in the two Armys. The US Army is more in your face and the British Army is more Tis,tis shame on you guilt trip (though I have seen a few of your NCO's get midevil on some poor soldiers ***, it was quite entertaining and boy could old boy cuss with the best of them) .
I guess we will never know who is better will we, because we will never fight against each other only with each other . See you in the trenches Old boy .

Honestly none I beleive . They work in diffrent sectors and the british came up to help us with operations in and around Ramahdi for a couple of weeks .
And the British Army was much quiker to pull the trigger than we where, when they came up from Basra, they just werent use to the Intesity of the Anbar province and IMO where a little scared, just like we where when we got to that hell hole .

Of course all soldiers are scared ! If not your a fool and something is wrong with you . After a while you get used to it . Anbar isnt Basra and isnt Northern Irealand . No shame in it quite normal, I was scarred as hell when I got there and a little edgy .

I know, it seems that he holds that against me . In a operation that size crap is bound to happen . Im sure that the Pilot didnt say Ohhh, a british tank Im going to light it up . Im sure that he felt the same way as if it was a American tank, like he was going to die inside . Knowing that you killed one of your own (Yes and we consider the UK one of our own and our brothers) is got to be one of the toughfest gut wrenching experiences that one has ever experienced .

It seems to be a lack of cordination, between the ground forces HQ and Air Support HQ .
It is equally the fault of the commander on the ground not to update where there position is at all times . Tank Destroyers A-10s are suppose to roam and destroy armor, they did there job . HQ didnt do thiers .

I read this thread yesterday and had a feeling it would turn into this.
Welcome to Scoobynet, and welcome to the UK when you get here!
Just reading over your posts though I can already see one difference in attitude between British and American military(not intending to offend here)
- "In a operation that size crap is bound to happen".
No it isn't, attention to detail should be higher than that, as that kind of f*ck up shouldn't be acceptable. Mind you, I don't actually believe soldiers should be sent to fight a war without all the proper kit they are meant to have access to, which is a British shortcoming.
