Ah, the age old complaint about the slipping standards of grammer and speeling on SN. Whilst I agree that messages written entirely in txt speak should not be tolerated, when it comes to grammar, spelling, and punctuation, some need to remember this is not an internet forum dedicated to correcting the grammatical content of others posts, and this type of behavior is something I find rather annoying to say the least.
If you feel so strongly about correcting others, then perhaps you should find a local school or evening class where you can put your, obviously perfect, skills of correcting others to a beneficial purpose.
I will fully admit that my grammar, spelling, and punctuation isn't perfect, far from it in fact. Perhaps I'm some kind of second class citizen because of this and deserve to be ridiculed?

However, there is no need to get overly pedantic. Such conduct, in the context of a BBS, generally reflects little credit on the individual concerned; in fact, it often has the opposite effect.
Some would say life is too short to spend on a BBS I'm not sure about that, but it's certainly too short to spend ages making every single post you contribute a literary masterpiece!
Just have enough respect for yourself and others to make a bit of an effort, if only so that your posts aren't rendered completely redundant, is all we ask!

There is a case of some being over pedantic, but there is a far, far bigger case for some of the 'numptiesque' spelling and grammar posts to be highlighted. If this is not pointed out to those who post almost gibberish, then they will continue to baffle the majority. Either learn the language and communicate in it to a good standard or forever come across as an ignorant wally

S'ok, i can take the patronisation on the chin, you're not the first to adopt that approach, you won't be the last. But save to say, the inability of many, MANY users on here to spell even the simplest words (their/there/they're/to/too/your/you're/break/brake/definite) does my fekkin head in. Why is it so difficult? You tell me...

I think the best example recently was in a thread title "Weird Pub Habbitt"
I don't worry about it now especially as the standards are going down so rapidly that I think we will soon have some younger members who can't actually read - or at best can only understand txt spk.
Oh and Marcus - I was reading your erudite post but I did wonder if "I will fully admit that my grammar, spelling, and punctuation isn't perfect" should actually read "aren't perfect" I thought you would want to know
dvd

Cheeky bugger! I could claim that I intentionally used "isn't" rather than "aren't" so as to annoy and bait the pedants (I'm not referring to you as a pedant), but I would not be telling the truth in that case
