I know what happened.
But there are always three sides to a story, one side, the other side, and the truth.
At the end of the day, it was a scuffle at a bar, Ive seen it hundreds of times, and dare say most people have. It doesnt make it right, but it happens, and it happens often.
Hard luck Marcus your time was up.

Witnesses of the alleged attack said Mr McGee, a Manchester United fan, was in charge of a card which allowed the music to be changed.
They claimed Gerrard asked for a particular tune but was told that it was not club policy to play requests.
At that point the footballer allegedly pushed past Mr McGee, catching him with an elbow.
One witness told The S*n: 'Marcus pushed Gerrard in the chest and, almost instinctively, Gerrard hit back with his elbow in Marcus’s mouth.
'Gerrard stepped back and walked away but his mates piled on top of Marcus and one of them smashed a beer bottle over his head. The whole thing lasted less than 10 seconds.
'Gerrard was pulled out of the scrapping and it turned into a free-for-all. The doormen all ran in and the club seemed to empty in seconds. We didn’t see who went where.
'People were rushing to Marcus’s side. He had a light-coloured shirt on and it was stained with blood.'
A police source said: 'Mr McGee retaliated and swore at Gerrard, which was when Gerrard's mates turned violent and assaulted him.'
Friends of the England star insisted he had been reacting to provocation and had thrown no punches himself (even though the Manc deserved it).
Mr McGee, a father-of-two who runs a double glazing firm, was taken to hospital where he received four stitches to his forehead and treatment on a cut nose, swollen eye and a dislodged tooth.

He was not the DJ, he was standing in during a break, he had limited access to the DJ box and controlled the music for a short while...but ended up a shorter while than he expected.

Only one of those is committing a serious crime, a bit different to just being someone you don't like as per the other names listed.

I will be surprised if it even goes to court, if it does, it will be due to the Police ensuring it does.
This Marcus guy will get a backhander and his teeth sorted, and he will not press charges.
He may even tell the world it was all his fault, you never know.

well it reads such that the lad who got slapped by SG started it by pushing SG (assault right there) and thhat SG was more of a reaction and then his mates piled in......
what a waste of tax payers time and money if they take SG to trial on this one.

.....and no wonder, it could happen to anybody. Mountain out of a Molehill if ever there was one.
Barton on the other hand was a serial offender and was well known to keep company with a troublesome bunch of lads. Was is it not also his brother that was convicted of murder(along with 2 others)?

What we need to see is a FIFA based players license and a proper code of conduct. When a player breaches the terms of the license, for example by getting a criminal record for drug taking, violence etc the license is removed and the player inelligible to play for the time without the license.
We all know if the bin dippers sack him after he is found guilty then Chelski or the likes will snap him up on £300,000 a week and being a one man team the bin dippers can ill afford to lose him - hence the reason they have absolutely no choice but to back him publicly. I wonder how LFC would have responded if the offender was Jermaine Pennant?
With this in mind, the decision as to whether he is sacked / banned or not needs to be taken away from the club.
Either way, it had to make the news because in the 16 years I have been a regular pi55 head in Southport, I have never seen Stevie G or a bar brawl!

This isn't typical Gerrard behaviour though- he lives just down the road from us and, although he's not my cup-of-tea, seems like a decent enough bloke.
We saw him in Tesco last week and he was being chased by about twenty arseholes all wanting something from him. He still stopped and said hi though. Granted, he's a public figure, but I wouldn't want to endure that (although thats unlikely as I'm not famous for my footballing prowess...)
