As i said abit ago if the diff fits you can take it for 25.
But if it makes it even easier andywidss has a mate that came round yesterday who really didnt mess about Im certain that between them they could swap it with out a problem,
So a small idea if you get hold off andy find out how much they would charge to do it. Then a51 drop the cash for labour + parts at mine.
After that your Underworld andy and stradderling mate are wellcome to come use my drive and do the job.
That way A51 if your a bit ashamed embarresed at wht you have done you dont have to deal with any one.
off course that all depends on A51 andy and underworld, but even if it costs you 200 quid to sort it A51 so the car is right for the lad. its better than a lot off options
Just a thought

I was gonna say he had the honesty to come on and ask for help regarding a sale but after reading through he has dug a hole for himself.
Could have saved grace and offered to get a replacement diff and pay something like 50% towards cost but he kind of buggered that up.
Car sales are always a gamble, especially when they are old, lacking history and sold through private channels.
Would be nice if people were a bit more honest but sometimes as a seller you might not know about something - when I sold my RX7 I found out from the buyer one of the turbo's was failing, I offered to pay towards the costs but he was happy to know that I wasn't dodging him.

What are the chances, lol. If I buy a scoob i'll always search on here first and if I'm or a friend of mine is interested in one on autotrader/ebay where ever its always a good thing to check on here first to see if seller is on sn.
think the seller should pay towards it although it is the buyers responsibility to do the checks etc. Oh well you know where he lives, and seen evidence of his knowledge of a problem with a diff, can you not get trading standards or a smiliar authority to investigate??
Ash

It's nice when the community gets together like this. How's about some of you get together in a different way and take a trip to Huddersfield. Maybe it's already being arranged by someone, something to think about eh a51?
a51, I know you are reading these posts, people like you can't resist it. Like someone else said, what goes round, comes around.

Talk of trips to Huddersfield is foolish in the extreme.

could a diff knock mean there is lack of oil in it or something???
it doesnt knock that much when i go straight..
it knocks when i reverse, start at a junction, going left or right...
mechanic told me its only going straight, nd it knocks when u try to turn one wheel more than the other, going forward.....
