I would hope you could also be sorted, but it's difficult if people can't find an actual illness or cause, in the medical world.

Quick update for those who followed my moaning.
From the tests so far and consultations, my neurologist believes I'm suffering from generalised tonic clonic seizures(some type of epilepsy). Helped further by some visual proof from the other half. It's sometimes difficult to explain what is happening, but apparently showing someone does help. Credit where credit is due, my neurologist has never fobbed me off so far and seems to care I get sorted. I doubt he'd give me the stuff I'm being prescribed if he didn't think I needed it.
The medication he has put me on will be for the long haul if it works, but still wants an EEG done (which should have been done by now even if it may well not show anything). Going next week for that.
Well, it could have been worse, but I'm a bit scared of going on the medication, but needs must.

Be careful of the medication and monitor it for the first few weeks. My wife had some pretty heavy duty ones after being diagnosed with a form of epilepsy (falsely as it happens) and it made it difficult for her to drive occasionally.

What they mentioned medication wise?
Sodium Valporate, Carbamazepine, Phenytoin?
These tend to be the common one's in use if you want to research them

Lamotrigine is a good drug, well tolerated and effective as first line monotherapy.
The MRI you've had is the routine check for an acoustic neuroma, so if it is normal for you Lisa, that is as much reassurance as it is feasible to give that there is no brain lesion.

Thank you. It has been treated with Gamma-Knife (targetted radiation) which has hopefully stopped it growing. Symptoms are still around occasionally: Dizziness, spliting headaches etc... and the only other treatment is to wait and monitor and hopefully it will not grow.

Fingers crossed. Just hope it doesn't have too many side effects. If you worried about though, you'd never take anything I suppose. I do then have to go back for a review with the neurologist in 6 months time.
Thankfully I don't want kids or it would be a bit of a problem apparently.

Free prescriptions is a given, get that sorted ASAP. Free bus passes are the norm here too as many newly diagnosed epileptics have to hand in their driving licence. I doubt that it is any different where you live.
