if you have a cold/flu and get cold does this make your cold worse?

To kill the virus the body elevates it's temperature as this will be too warm to harbor the cold/flu. Ok went to docs yesterday as its a work requirement we phone them if we are off for a few days. Anyways he asked to see me so went in and I do have a chest infection. Now on 500 of Amox and signed off for another week.
