The only problem I had was caused by myself using nLite to strip out some features, think I may have removed a little too much

To install Windows 7, I used the 360 HD-DVD drive instead which made life easier, if a little slower.
Yes, the memory was from Play.com. Appears to be the correct spec, so fingers crossed it shows up when I install it . . . although XP and 7 run just great without it. Really depends what apps you're thinking of running.

Okay just getting around to setting up my email on he little acer, have typed the same settings into the set up new account wizard on the acers email client as I have within my outlook express on my main pc but still it cannot verify my email addres, showing my ignorance again !! but does the programme that is installed on this machine differ from say outook express in that it actually has to connect to web based email ??
possibly just got a setting wrong but its just that I noticed web mail with the sky.com add when I had entered my settings but as I say for some reason it will not accept my settings ??
any advice ??

Okay thanks just that I had read on the aceraspire forum that a lot ff memory sticks were failing to complete the job sometimes if this was connected with re-installing linux as opposed to xp I dont know- would there be a difference ??
anyway just though if I am installing xp am now going to have to put an anti virus software on it, no big problem but something else to think about now !!!
bet the virus writters are busy coming up with a linux virus as we speak thou !!

Picked one of these up yesterday so my wife doesn't hog my laptop ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Linpus seems ideal for her needs. Is there a way to get it to see a windows network so it can share the docs and media? It is no problem to transfer stuff using an SD card or USB device if not.

John - you should be able to use Samba shares to access your Windows network.
This may help:
Acer Aspire One User Forum • View topic - Accessing windows SMB Workgroup shares

Memory upgrade was a piece of cake . . . once I'd realised I hadn't seated it correctly the first time ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
I have a spare unopened 1Gb stick of Crucial ram suitable for the the AAO if anyone's interested.

It's really much easier than it looks. The Wii was ten times harder to take apart
You just need a good set of precision screwdrivers, take it slow and methodical plus keep your screws organised.
I'll do it for £9 posted (cost me £13.20 posted) if you're interested, assuming payment by BT or PayPal gift.
