Oh dear lordy.
My son also had a lot of 'difficulties' during his school days.
Wouldn't you know it, he was a lazy git, (much like his Dad), who responded really well to some home truths.
Dyslexia, word blindness, needs to study harder, lazy git.....
I'm sure your 10 year old will be a great success given the right training/teaching, not excuses.

Default Son

Since my son has received the correctly orientated tuition (what i pay tax for) he has improved immensely.
His confidence has grown and grown, from being introverted he has became extrovert.
He is a different little man.
people who disbelieve that there are conditions such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, tourettes, ADHD, or any form of autism do not have their "head up their @sre"
They have a brain which is made from sh*t, they have an inability to think rationally and they most probably possess the I.Q. of a retarded stromatolite!

Did you mean it in the singular or plural, as if it is important anyway for goodness sake!

To be fair Chris, that is the reaction that would be expected of a concerned parent.
My wife suffers from lazy **** syndrome (as diagnosed) and she completed her degree and is in her last year of her masters, she just accepts that fate can be cruel and works harder.

Default Lazy tw@t

a lot of people with this condition are highly intelligent, more so than "normal brain function peoples.
Albert Einstein i think he would do alright on countdown.
My son has an exceptional memory he has near perfect abilities to recall information. he is building an encylopedia in his head.
what you don't have in one department you sometimes gain in another.

Yes, this happens too. Not every dyslexic person is lazy, not every lazy person is dyslexic either. There are plenty of people out there, genuinely struggling with their academic performance due to the late diagnosis. I still wouldn't advocate mere ignorance, and dyslexic card to be played for illiteracy, though. Sorry to learn about your son. I have seen many university students genuinely suffering with their workload due to this condition.

Sometimes its the parents that are lazy (who can't be bothered to put an effort into disciplining such children), not the offspring with the disorder label on his forehead.

LOL I try my best, L101. English is my second language, I can never get it as right as Hindi. Yet again, the real will to learn and get it "as right as possible" does help. Same goes for people with English as their mother tongue. Most of them can get it right, if they really want to. Some don't, simply because they can't be @rsed.

There is a firm of Architects in North America who will only hire dyslexics because they are often more artistic than us norms.

This is just plain wrong though, its the differences that makes life interesting and gives us something to poke fun at
