jolly green or slow boy?

I'm going to send you a PM explaining why you'd be better going to JGM than Slowboy and you'll want to read it.
JGM will do a better job than Slowboy as I have seen the result of some of their work and it was not good.
It's understandable that with lots of work being done on Scoobs by them, they'll get something wrong now and again but JGM has a MUCH better reputation in my opinion.

Im saying 3 things really.....
1. What is the point of going to a garage to do all the work then to a mapper to get all the praise?
2. If something goes wrong it can all be sorted then and there.
3. Last but not least Slow boy do put a lot more time in to there mapping.

I have never used slowboy personally but have few friends who have and were not best pleased with the service and customer care they received. Simon has never and will never map a car just on boost, he does check cruise and lower gears.

im sure some1 mentioned that simon dooes not check cruise and lower gears? so we have 2 opinions here, which1 is the fact?
#37
People can mention what they like, but in total I have used Simon for 10 remaps and he has always checked this for me.
We will always pull off on to local roads floor it through the lower gears to check boost and knock levels and cruise gets checked while I am waiting to do a run on boost.

Just because a mapper doesn't ask you drive slowly, through the gears or whatever, that doesn't mean that they aren't checking those things as you drive normally.

I've always heard good about JGM and as soon as funds allow will be knocking on his door.
let us know how you get on and what the "thingy gauge" turns out to be

From: The Terry Crews of moderation. P P P P P P POWER!!
Like most mappers, Simon knows his way around a Subaru very well, he just chooses to specialise in mapping.
There are undoubtedly advantages to a one stop shop, but there are also advantages to having a mapper visit you!
That said, you shouldn't choose a mapper based on convenience alone. Ask around and see the results. I know of many people who've had their car mapped by Simon, and they're all delighted!
I personally travel about 250 miles (round trip) to see Bob Rawle.
You can't make too many inferences based on the amount of time a mapper spends on your car; this is subject to numerous variables: some are done quickly, others take longer. The best mappers (including Simon) are there till it's right and you are happy!
I don't have any personal experience of Slowboy racing, but have heard several good comments about them.

If you are prepared to recieve payment for a job instead of getting me to pay the welder direct then you accept responsability for the work and its quality...
Or is that not acceptable in today retail and supply industry?

ive used both, simon (JGM) done my first ecutek remap... i was happy with the results.
with neil (slowboy), i had parts fitted decat up-pipe, centre pipe and backbox resetup, new turbo, new headlights, FMIC, fuel pump, my original typhoon k&n and also the simtek with mapping.... i'm amazed how much time neil spent with me, plus all the advice he gave. his works is very good as i think he's a perfectionist lol.
thats my view anyway, any work to my car in the future will be with neil as i had the best experience

lol, why would he not?
As Paul said, he's obviously keeping an eye on things all the time. And he certainly made me go through all the gears to check everything was as it should be.

Pretty simple answer for who to use when your asking about JGM or Slowboy?
If you want a 2 hour map with no slow driving mapping or checking how the car works in every gear JGM Who is none to do more the 4 maps in a day.
If you want your car to really be looked after were it can be mapped and if anything is wrong go back to the garage to be sorted out (one stop shop) were your car will be checked in every gear and only your car will be mapped that day to make sure it is as good as could ever be, Slowboy Racing.
Some people like one garage to do all the work,
then go to a mapper to do the map,
then find out something is wrong and then have to go back to the garage to get it fixed. (when ever the garage has room for there car again 3 weeks later!)
Others use there brain
These cars are not straight forward! believe me i know!
Like Toys are us everything under one roof.

True but I do not appreciate the undertones of going 4 400bhp's posts. He seems to want to turn it into a slanging match between people who use JGM and Neil.
I would much prefer to have balanced view from both sides, which I feel I have given from my experiences with Simon.

Your company outsourced a job (unbeknown to me) which was then sent to me without any inspection by your company (which gladly took payment prior to shipping the job to me).

More to the point this was done as favour for “another” Scoobynet member I didn’t even know this was for you to begin with, if I did I would not have offered to help as the favour only really extended to him as welding inlets is not something I do.
The long and short of this is, “sure I know someone who will switch the TB, send it to me I and I will drop it off for you no problem”
Based on the information he supplied and despite my questions on this I was assured by him that you wanted your manifold this way as I have explained in more detail on the PM.
Some time after I received a rather unhappy call from you (First time we ever spoke) explaining that this was not what you wanted or asked for. I explained (In Brief) I simply took a photo supplied by your friend of his red inlet and gave this to a local welder and asked him to weld and send when it’s done.
Despite this and you not being happy I still offered to give you your money back based on the “weld” quality as you said this was not good and you yourself could do better, and this I would take up with the welder. I maintained however that you should take up the rest with the fellow Scooby netter as due to his lack of understanding at the time to supply this information to you and me resulted in this.
And still even though this was not worked on by me or even charged as a company job I offered you something back over a year later.
As I said in my PM I really don’t know what else to say as I tried to rectify my part then and now. However you seem intent on now creating a new thread and posting PM’s to other members. As I have also said in my PM I don’t want sour feelings it’s simply not worth it, what more can I offer ?
I have nothing else to say on here that I have not said in my Pm to you. It’s just a shame the other Scooby netter seems to forget what he actually told me to do.
However I would like you to PM me your number so this can be resolved if you wish.

My only problem was that it was a friday night so I went without beer (could buy more beer after though with fuel savings)
Not used slowboy, but on the previous username Un Ink he has helped me out with info and also sent me a timing belt guide with pictures.

Lets all be friends
Well lads and lassies All garages must have some unhappy customers and no matter how hard you try they will stay that way.I dont no how many customers either has had but im shore it a lot so the more they have the more chance there will be someone not happy as long as it not all of them i feel that they must both be good so come on its never good slagging anyone off is it
I feel that if you have a prob try and sort it out asap between you and them who ever they are.Thats the prob with these sites to much slagging so come we are all grown ups
Also Kareenababy try slowboy if they are closer and make your own mind up im sure you will not disapointed I travel all the from north london to slowboy and im sure that there will be somone closer but it who you feel confident with after all

I have had 3 remaps done by JGM, I was not happy until i took my car to slow boy and had him do it.
I know were ill be going for my next map to.
As for Amir i know him and all that has happened with his car and all i can say is we push the envelop with these car's and **** happens. The guy who had my car before me had it built by API who everyone knows on this site but it still blew up less then 6 months down the line.
Is slowboy fixing it? So were is the problem then???
I do not see how that is a slagging match starting? The thread was started asking witch one to go to? I said Slow boy and you say JGM... End of really
