Third runway is go!

I have lived round Manchester Airport all my life, have done a triangle round it in terms of where I have lived, Heald Green is quite noisy but not as bad as it used to be, I wouldn't want to live right under the flightpath at low altitude but I wouldnt buy a house there, I certainly wouldn't buy one then moan about it, I cant say the second runway made that much difference, I can see the planes taking off all day from my desk and guess what, I quite like it, nothing like seeing a Jumbo hauling its improbable mass into the air.
I do however remember the window shaking, teeth rattling days of the 727 (pre hush kits), 1-11s and other smoky screaming things, the modern ones are positively civilised sounding, the old ones were more millitary, sometimes we could hear engine tests which was loud enough to make you raise your voice 2 miles away.
