Oh and why don't we now get MOT reminders??
I think you will be soon ...I know VOSA are looking at a more visual & user friendly version of the reminder sticker you currently get from the MOT station

If you are taking the car off the road and hiding it in the garage all you have to do is claim the remaining road tax back at the same time as declaring it SORN.

I think overall anything that reduces the number of uninsured drivers has got to be a good thing. Hopefully it will work and a few more sheds will be crushed this year.

Because now, you will be fined for forgetting, so theirs no incentive for anyone to send you a reminder

better idea = ANPR in petrol stations -
no proof of tax + insurance = no purchase of petrol allowed

still has flaws

better solution,, the traffic cops actually pull drivers who are uninsured and the car can not be purchased back UNTIL THE PERSON WHO DROVE THE CAR AS INSURANCE !!!!

when i had my impreza taken off me,, insurance company put in the wrong reg ( i wont be renewing with Aplan for that reason id like to add !!! ) they had people with mates/parents collecting "their car", the old bill just wanted proof and the fine

when i showed proof mine was a mistake the STILL wanted the ****ing fine saying " its not our fault the details are wrong, talk to your insurance"

they just want the cash, couldnt give a ****e about the non insurance at all

the system is flawed and the inocent people still get done all the time, about 30% are inocent people in the pound !!!

also how could i insure a car with the wrong reg when the database shows it as different car,,, how the **** does that work out not to mention how can i leave the country twice with the same car ???

nope, they said i said the wrong reg so wont, even though the car is not a ****ing impreza but a ford transit !

i bought the car and was told the reg from the bloke i bought it off, what i dont get is how comes there system CANT see its the correct reg ??? they MUST have a MAM link like i do at work and if the reg is wrong then correct them,, how the **** can they insure a car that dont exsist,,, seems the systems are in place when it FAVORS them but not to favour others

i wont be touching them again renewal time,,, only went with em as others on here recomended them, if that can be wrong what else is gonna be "wrong" on the insurance that i assumed i should have

i dont bother reading the small print as its always very very very loose a discription to cover them selves

ps: total cost are MORE than the 150 quid to recover it, i was charged over night storage,,even though the car arrived at the pound AFTER me and it was taken off me at 12:30am !!!, the pound was in ****ing alperton !!!, so i had to get a cab home, rent a car to collect my cover not IN ****ING THATCHAM !!! i live in london btw, drive to alperton, wait for 6 hours queing to get the car out with all the other criminals who did not have insurance !!!!, bail the car out, get the hire car back to the rental company, get a train and 2 busses to collect my car that i had to dump on the road in the middle of west london then drive home

all cause the numbers are the wrong way round,, lets not forget i pay 1300 quid per year on unsurance for a car with 5 years no claims !!!!

also lost a days wages too, over all the cost was around 600 quid to me,,, for a car i DID pay insurnance for !!!!

OH, how could i forget the BEST thing, the car was vosa inspected and failed on the emissions,, they said i couldnt take the car out and i would have to get i towed on the back of a recovery truck !!!, re MOT the car and could not be parked on the road till it was done !!!

i argued with the costs, showed the car should not even be in there as said look at the car, look at the money i pay for it ect, ill get it sorted and the MOT was done 2 weeks earlier i aint gonna drive a shed, its just the lambda sensor has failed due to age as it was just 218hc where the law is 200 even though its a euro4 engine meaning it should be lower than 65hc and he was impressed i new what i was talking about, so let me off !!!!

thank **** i do the technical enquirys at work and get sent on all the courses, otherwise i would be another 300 quid out of pocket,,

A-plan aint my favorite people, going to thatcham to collect the original documents was the ****ing worst thing or i would have had to pay for a weekends storage whilst waiting for the letter to drop on my door step

Not happy then chap. I can understand where you are coming from, but I believe you are one of the unlucky ones. A mistake was made and I believe your insurance company should conpensate you for it. Any proposal to remove u-insured cars off the roads has to be a good thing. I feel for you Ginge and lesson need to be learnt but these scum should be removed from the roads asap.

the only differance will be that an automatic fine will be sent out ,after the first letter.it will make it easier to catch those uinsured, but only if they were stupid enough not to get it sorned, or more likely just didnt know about the new law coming into action. so it might work well for a few months untill it is commen kowledge that to drive a car uninsured, that is registered in your name, it has to be sorn'd
