Despite what protestations I am sure there are, I have been dreadfully unhappy and I am the one shelling out the thousands (and I continue to do so)
I know a few guys who would just prefer to keep quiet so this is probably the tip of the iceberg.
It also seems that the suppliers in a particular region are also a bit of a cartel so one must be careful not to pee on one's doorstep, so to speak. I find it surprising behaviour as the economic crunch comes. API David, you have dissappointed me, lost a client, supporter, and probably a fair bit of dough.
There are always 2 sides to every coin. I am in the business of supplying to government so I know what it is like to deal with a haughty, often one-sided, unreasonable client who refuses to hear the facts and threatens with his order book. But in my case I feel genuinely aggrieved. I am not some dimwit trying to put Kev out of business, as he accuses, or trying to get something for free. Quite the reverse. When I have a question, I would like it answered man-to-man not like he's the Sherriff of Nottingham or something. I think all the foot-soldiers up at the farm are great but I get a horrible feeling in my gut every time I think about how I have been treated like I this. 3 times. And I never closed the door on communication, the ball is in Kev's court.

Lastly, I challenge the Suppliers, and the controllers of this fine Forum, to thoughtfully come up with a form of feedback that protects both Suppliers and Clients, something like ebay. Guys, it works quite well.
Not the case at all Peter, Your car was mapped at "the Clinic" by Pat Herborn. You wanted APi to remap it because you weren't happy with the map that Pat put on at the Clinic. Pat maps our cars, if he cannot do it to your satisfaction at the Clinic, I doubt he can do it any better for me [you ] at APi.

Under those circumstances, I could see no advantage for either of us, in repeating work that probably couldn't be improved.

Better for you to make a clean start in another direction. That is why I declined your job. No cartel, no looking after trade mates, just a simple business decision, I didn't feel we could do any better for you.

How can a car not be mapped to the customers satisfaction?
Either the mapper can't do his job or the car is at fault, there shouldn't be a grey area.
Interested to hear what was wrong with the map because this is the third story I have heard with regards to Pat and previously I thought he was regarded as one of the best.

If any of you guys are thinking about a remap, try Steve Saddler, www.FCTuning.com I have to say his one to one service is very good always willing to offer advice and very friendly to deal with. Your car will be in safe hands with him. And none of this call you back later and never hear from again.

Factually incorrect, David. We should continue this conversation privately. You never came back to me when I asked for an appointment. At the time the subject was an APS TMIC that you said would fit my car when the Aussies who made it said it would not, and I phoned them in Oz to confirm what their www said.

You will recall that Pat mapped my car for me at the clinic in December because you could not accomodate me at the time. I am equidistant between you and the farm and was interested in that TMIC at the time.

For the record: I AM HAPPY WITH THE MAPPING PAT HAS DONE SO FAR. OK. PAT IS A GOOD GUY and I will go back to him anytime if he will still have me after all this stupidity. You put words into my mouth. I am trying to get my car into a particular state of tune that I want, not what everyone thinks I should have. Presently I want it tweaking in a particular part of the rev range where it's got a dip and I still want to adjust the boost a bit. I wish I could do it myself. Maybe I will get it mapped three times more until it's just right for me. Another map is planned shortly for various reasons. I am building up a portfolio of data to build upon.

I am not asking for anything for free, I am willing to pay for the work I ask to be done. What more could anyone expect? This is astonishing.

Pat has mapped three of my cars each time after other "specialists" have mapped it for previous owners. Every time there has been a significant increase in bhp/torque and more importantly driveability. I consider Pat to be one of the best mappers
