been with A plan for a few years now had a couple of double policies with then too, one covering my scoob and one my normal car never had any problems always and only ever deal with the Thatcham office they have always only ever been helpful and curtious and they always discuss the price if you find one cheaper at renewal time, and they usually beat it too

up for renewal about May and expect the same scenario then, renewal will be higher, i'll find a similar policy cheaper, they will review and beat it and I will be with them for another 12 months, simple.

No adverts seen on the site but can see the banner size {but it is blank} it is too big, but I suppose it is a commercial site so its the way it will be.

I'll give them a ring to see what they quote but until this business is sorted about the low valuation I'll hold off.
No point getting a cheap quote if they shaft you when you need to claim.

rob why dont you use a MAM based reg check when doing insurance policys, i managed to insure a car i just bought with you, reg was given to be wrong from the trader and you allowed it to be insured as a impreza sti,,, but the reg was for a transit and i had the car taken from me, it cost me ALOT of cash and **** ache to get my car back,,, cant see how i can insure a car claiming its one thing when its another,,, on the other places ive used they ask for the reg and confirm the car it is,, i also work in the car game and have access to MAM for car details

it cost me 600 quid and also i wont be bothering using you ever again due to the way you told me " its one of them things" when its clear you should be aware of the MAM reg check system,, oh and having to travel thatcham to collect my documents cause you cant print them off at the watford branch,, only a scanned copy emailed to the branch !!!

sorry but your customer service and access to info sucks,,, and to think i pay 1300 quid a year with you lot,,, bit too much like a clown town to me im afraid and i DREAD to think i ever have a claim !!!!

they aint ripped me off, there was a mistake on the reg they never picked up on when i gave them the reg, which is a SIMPLE thing to sort, i know as i deal with around 250 registrations per day and use the MAM system

buying a car then insuring it to collect the car, there may be a chance the reg is gonna be wrong,, human error,, though they have systems in place to inform the MIB the car is insured,,, but cant tell what car it is when OTHER places can, thats the part that peed me off, the actual money is anoying but its the way they said " sorry not my issue you got the reg wrong" when they should have been able to pick it up !!!!

they ASKED for the reg of the car when doing the quote, that and they cant print off my documents at a more local branch ( being 35 miles away if thats local !!!!) but instead a trip to thatcham !!!!

Thanks for that, I'll give them a bell

Looks like A plan should have got their house in order before sticking a big "Look at me" advert at the top of the page.

Thats the trouble with forums, if you shaft one member all the others gang up on you.
Saw the same with DK bikes, they royally humped one poor guy and now everyone I speak to won't deal with them after it was all outed on the internet, in fact I don't know how they stay in business.

Am with A-Plan already - Rob you sorted me out last year. It will be interesting to see if A-Plan will give me a good renewal quote to retain me as a customer.

I'm sorry but i think i've read enough about how A-Plan made a mistake now

Although I feel sorry for the inconvenience and hassle caused and every thing that you have suffered including costs as a result of this mistake, I think something needs to be clarified here.

I do not have first hand experience as I don't insure with A-Plan however, when I took my policy with another insurer it was clearly stated to me both on the phone and again in print on the policy that I must check all the details and inform them if there are any mistakes with it, and that if i didn't then those mistake could invalidate my insurance. (surely this is comman practice with insurers?)

This is the first time I have had to do this but, I received two copies of my policy one of which I kept and the other I signed and returned back to the insurer along with proof of my tracker and cat1 alarm.
Regardless of this are you honestly saying you didn't check the policy statement documents when you received them? Surely your reg is shown on your policy. If this is the case how can A-Plan be directly to blame?

I'm not taking sides at all on this however I feel that is a little unjust that A-Plan seem to be subject to such a dressing down, over one persons experience that IMO appears to not actually be their fault.
Granted I certainly wouldn't want to have to go through all that you have said on this and another thread, and as result maybe steered away from A-plan for future insurance.
I just think it's a little unfair thats all.

Just my two pennies

I have been with A-plan for the last 3 years, sadly last year i had to make a claim on the car i had before buying the impreza.

Markerstudy is the company that my policy is with..... For Christ sake dont take the policy if markerstudy is going to be the insurer. I was left without a car for nearly 5 months and they said my 16k car was only worth 12k.

I was asked to proove my car was worth 16k, i gave at minimum 15 examples of lesser spec cars with very little history and they turned around and said " those people are just dreamers"

I had loads of other problems but quite honestly i cant be bothered speaking about them anymore it just gets my back up....

Its your money folks - i'll be putting mine elsewhere this year regardless of the quote they provide.

A plan insured me and then when it was time for renewal they increased it by a lot despite the only change i was a year older.
I did some shopping around and found i could get it half the price and even less voluntary excess. So i rang to say thanks but no thanks only to be TOLD i couldnt get my insurance elsewhere as it was TOO cheap and they questioned the vol excess amount (made me feel like i was lying about it)
I started to read the prices of the rest of the companies i had quotes from and guess what, they price matched it.
So i decided to stay out of convienience and because i did my own research getting quotes elsewhere i saved myself over £400 which is a hell of a difference to what they originally wanted from me!

Got to say i was disappointed for not getting a discount for having two scoobs insured with them.

Thanks for all your comments.

Whilst I cannot answer every point raised, I would say we pride ourselves on being good people, not commision based and happy to help in the event of a problem.

If anyone is having any issues with us, large or small, give me personally a call on 01635 874646 and I'll try and help.

Elephant/Admiral regularly come up on these forums as being one of the worst companies to deal with should you need to claim. This was certainly the case when my sister had to claim from them. They are cheap though, I'll give you that...

We were with A-Plan for a couple of years on both the Scoob and the S2000. The policies were with Markerstudy, and there were quite a few reports about problems claiming from that company. We left and went to Keith Michaels, who were also cheaper.

I phoned Rob because i am looking at going back to an Impreza and was very unimpressed with the initial additional fee i was quoted (mid policy). After speaking to Rob for two minutes he had knocked £175 off of the adjustment, making it very, very competitive. This is starting to sound like a cheesy advert, but give him a call, it might have just saved me a small fortune!

the odd thing is, and this only happens with insurance, is people will shop and shop and shop until they are sure they have found the cheapest insurance money can buy. my old dad always said 'you get what you pay for', does this not apply with insurance too?

Not always. Insurance companies regularly increase renewals in the hope that (most) people will just accept it and renew because they cant be bothered to ring around for better prices.

Always worth getting other quotes just to barter with IMO.
