Jason, you're not getting this at all are you?
JASMA, think of it like a TUV mark or a BSI kitemark.
Loud exhausts DO NOT ACHIEVE THE RATING.
end of.

Now we hear that Kareena has a mix-match of exhausts thats have been welded together. Ahhh. still dropping in annoying/banned text speak but she is getting better

Jason, please consider that whoever's exhaust you heard either had a leak, the wadding was shot or it was welded sections as above.

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but blitz nur spec exhausts are jasma rated. To be jasma rated an exhaust has to be less than 96db.

In Japan Blitz and HKS both have highway rated exhausts. A 'Nur Spec' exhaust, as we know it, will be well in excess of the approval level. Its not uncommon for them to fail noise tests at circuits here, even when they have a bung fitted (so well in excess of 100dB!).

The point though, is that JASMA approval is granted to the OPs rear section, not the non-resonated centre nor the catalytic convertor free downpipe. These are the sections responsible for the greatly increased noise and it is not possible to legally run a road car without a cat in Japan: so they certainly arent approved.

Either way, JASMA exhausts can be a lot louder than standard.

kareena, what size is the pipe work under the car?? i think you might have a straight thru 3" system.

sorry just re-read the first post

The system on your car will be loud as it is a 3" system with no cat or resonator. The only way your gonna lower the sound is either to fit a resonator or get a bung for it. I would love to swap systems with you but my neighbours would not take too kindly to it at 5am every morning

Nice firery thread Now for my 2 penneth, Kereena i dont think your gonna get a swop as your system sounds like a welded up mis-match (no offence). I run a 3" full decat with the center resonator and a stupid 4.5" tailpipe with no bung, it does pop/bang here and there but i have no noise problems at all, nice but not plod attractive So as GC8 says really, the center pipe with resonator is enough to make it sensible coz there is nothing else on mine to quiten it

If you want something quieter but still on a full decat get a TSL backbox. Mine's really not that loud at all, in fact it only sounds throaty with the windows down and on full throttle. The rest of the time it's really quiet (and that's with a full decat and unresonated 2.5" centre section).

Jeez. I think the problem is your systems got various leaks in it. It's nothing to do with any of the above by the sounds of that video!

LOL the only swap its had is the exhaust before it had a standard one, my boyfriends idea was to give it a freeflow exhaust, he loves it and i hate it

Kareena, just get a center resonated section fitted (if the welding hasn't ruined the flanges!). Pointless getting a whole new system if you don't need to isn't it?

Fit it and see what you think. If you still want to change the rest you can and you will already have the center section so nowt lost. What ya reckon?
