In ten years of Scoob ownership I think I have spent a total of around £100,000, yes, one hundred thousand pounds on buying and modifying two Subarus, around £10k on insurance and around £15k on petrol.

The two cars were around £28k each - a new STi V in 1999 and a new Spec C in 2005. Various upgrades to both cars (AP 6 pots, suspension etc) £12k. £22k building a 550bhp engine and gearbox for the STi V and mending both twice.

For the same money I could have had a brand new 911 Turbo and a nice Beemer for her indoors.

In terms of sacrifice the equates to a decent pension contribution, a full private education for one of my kids, two or three decent buy to let properties giving me income...

...masses of world travel...

...the list is endless. And I spent it on bloody Subarus!

PS And there are many, many people on this BBS will have spent at least as much if not substantially more!

PPS I recouped around £25k in selling the cars on.

you guys should listen to yourselves. honestly, getting yourself into mega debt for a car, there is more to life. iv had two scoobs, spent a fair bit of cash on both of them, nothing major maybe 3 grand, got sick of spending all my money on cars, being skint, credit crunch and all that, got a mortgage, 2 kids, sold my last classic last year, lost a lot of cash on it, and it was a mint classic sti i imported from japan, ended up needing new clutch, also big service after i got it belts etc cost well over a grand for that lot, then the full decat i bought etc, now running around in a vw polo, p plate, cost peanuts, peanuts to run, dont care where i park it or if it gets dinged etc, but guess what, yes on pistonheads everyday looking for another scoob, trying to resist, miss having one so much, but know if i get another one ill end up spending loads again and being pissed off. its a viscous circle!!!!!!!
