This thread is like a compressed version of the "House prices will collapse" Theories from the last 10 years .

The BBC weather forecasters are quite interesting.

If you watch their Weather maps you can get quite a good idea what will be happening in your area. However - the idiots doing all the talking are only ever telling you what the weather will be like in the South East of Engerland (London to be more precise).

I note that a "bit of snow" has now become a "Snow Event"

Why can't we have Rain or Fog Events

I expect to see a brass band and some sexy cheerleaders when I drive into town

Ah so that's where the weather system went! They were calling for snow over the weekend, and nothing, so I guess it bypassed us and hit the UK.

As to be expected the SE is just utterly unprepared to counter this amount of snow and thus being worst hit, things just completely shut down.

Hopefully this is a freak event. Alas it's not here, we got 15 cm over the course of last Wednesday, and we've had similar amounts since early december on the odd day. The snow banks outside the house are at least 6ft, we are running out of places to put the blooming stuff! We usually get 130cm over the entire winter, and we're up to that now, and Feb is meant to be the month where we get the most snow. Well, looks like I'll get more of a workout clearing the snow this month then!

Markus, we've got cold air from Russia meeting rain from France, it's come from the wrong side to have bypassed you, unless it went all the way round first

It managed to tow the Audi up the drive, its back end going everywhere but where it should. I was shaking like a leaf when I got out.
It can stay put

Got to laugh how it becomes a national emergency/event/shutdown when a bit of snow hits the SE and London as well as the North!!

Cheeky bint

Have to say I didn't look at the tracking to see where your storm was coming in from, just thought as we'd not got hit by *another* dumping that it might have moved your way, always nice to share the wealth. I've had enough of this blooming stuff. Looks pretty for the first six hours, then you have to shovel the drive and pathway, repeat this for a week, then a break, then more of the same and it gets boring very quickly.

It did eventually happen here, too. I woke up to white Wales TBH, I didn't have to bother scooby at all. My Mondeo TD pulled well in snow, no prob. I was a bit displeased to see my neighbour woman's face (she was parked on the other side of the road; opposite to my drive). I was pulling out to take my daughter to school, while she was chucking hot water on her bird-ish Peugeot's (sp.) windows. Anyway, I couldn't get out until she had moved. Snow-skid could have caused me to run the bird and/or her car over. So, I just waited patiently, and smiled at her to make her feel better for her sorry self. But no! She kept her face stone-hard, and eventully moved out of my way. How unfriendly! She is new to our village, and perhaps from an abusive neighbourhood, from her previous life. She needs to learn to smile, to reciprocate other "nice" villagers

However, above example shows that snow can cause unforeseen discomfort in human relationships for sod all!

Maybe she came from a better village where the neighbours helped each other to clear snow off their cars and was miffed that you just sat grining like an idiot

Managed to get to work this morning in just under 1 hour, as opposed to the usual 20 mins only to find that people who live 5 miles from the factory couldn't be arsed to turn up
They sent us home at 1 though so back home safe and sound no though
